There were several old structures around the hanger area. None were marked, so it was difficult to tell what some of them had been.

  • Old Wreckage at Daly Waters Aerodrome

There was the wreckage of an airplane just off the edge of the parking area northwest of the hanger. It had a symbol on it of a blue cloud with a gray lightning bolt. The symbol looked like it may have been added after the wreck.

  • Old Terminal Buildings at Daly Waters...

I am not sure since I have not been able to find a map of the Aerodrome layout, but I think that the two buildings near the Daly Waters Aerodrome gate northwest of the hanger were terminal buildings. One is now collapsed. They were behind a separate fence. It is also possible that they were barracks for servicemen during World War II. There was...

The Daly Waters Overland Telegraph Station was located near The Stuart Tree. Now all that remains at the site are the steps to the main office and some scattered artifacts. • The Stuart Tree at Daly Waters

The signpost at The Stuart Tree asks "Historic carving or just graffiti?" It was during his brief stop at this chain of ponds as John McDouall Stuart described it that he, or possibly one of his party, carved the large 'S' into the tree here. Despite other examples, there is no record of this tree in Stuart's diaries. All that is written is "I...

We ordered our food at the roadhouse early, then strolled over at 7pm from the dog boxes. Basically you get whatever is on offer at the time. I chose the silverside roast with salad. Wasn't too bad either.

Hell's Gate is dry.... which means no grog is sold there as they had too many problems from the locals. However we were allowed to bring the 2 beers that we had in our esky to dinner.

So if you are staying the night at Hell's Gate, come prepared ;o)

Whether you are in the town at night, or even in the day, you have got to stop for a Pint at this Pub. A true example of an outback Australian pub, Daly Creek Hotel/Pub really has a charm and a character to it!!!! The Daly Waters Hotel is one of the oldest buildings in the Northern Territory, built in 1893.

Decorated with travellers mementos from world wild including photos, peoples old licenses, bank notes from around the globe, stickers and football jerseys it is kinda like the world has come to this bar for a pint. The town itself only having a small population of about 23 people, the bar of course runs on the people stopping by for a pint as they travel on down the Stuart Highway.

Dress Code: Whatever you want would go in this pub I'm pretty sure... I don't think they would have any regulations whatsoever... this is outback oz!!!
