    Sawasdee: Cullen Bay Cafes

by Zanzibargirl Written Nov 20, 2004

I didn't eat here, I had a drink once down here, but never ate. It has a great view and is great for a lunch on the weekend. Any of the Cullen bay cafes look rather apetising and scenically set.

Favorite Dish: Sawasdee serves traditional Thai Nonya meals. I love Thai, so I am sure it would be yummy as. There is plenty of variety down at Cullen Bay though, so you will no doubt find something to suit your tastes.

Nice little chinese takeaway place. Food is terrefic and the airconditioned seating in the Darwin Central Arcade is a welcome relief from the midday heat. Best on weekdays for lunch.

    Favorite Dish: Combination Laksa $8.50

Darwin Trailer Boat Club: Eat and watch the sunset

by bushchook Updated Oct 8, 2004

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This boat club has the most specatular views over the ocean. It has a fabulous bistro that religiously wins local awards for its food. You can sit and eat your meal some 2 feet from the beach and watch the sunset over the yachts moored at sea. You need to sign in first though, but everything from drinks and food is seriously reasonable and cheap. Its a great spot. You can also swim in the pool there, go for a walk on the beach and watch everyone coming in from fishing. Its close to the city and tops, AUS$10 cab from town. Dont be worried bout the monitors (big lizards) that walk around amongst the tables looking for scraps, they wont hurt you unless you hurt them.

Favorite Dish: Everything is good, very diversified and the menu changes daily.

    The Wharf

by stedeb Written May 8, 2004

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Lovely sitting here in the afternoon with a glass of wine and basically whatever you fancy. There are several options to choose from Chinese, Thai, Fish & Chips, Croc burgers, Buffalo burgers or Schnitzel allmade fresh as you order and very reasonably priced.
Nice to sit in the shade and watch the ships.

Favorite Dish: Can't say I have a favourite having only been twice but we certainly have no complaints either.

    Good cheap grub!

by littlebush Written Sep 20, 2003

Rorkes Drift is a pub/restaurant that does huge portions of food, a little more pricey than others in town but very good value for money!

The Victoria pub is where most backpackers head. Anyone on a Kakadu/Litchfield trip gets a free ticket for a free meal in the Vic. Its not a bad feed either, usually a barbie! Luckily, in the flat I was staying in was a driver for one of the tours so most nights i got a ticket from him and got a free feed...beware the possums on the balcony, theyll nick ya food!

Blue Heeler, another great pub, with free food, provided you buy a drink! just buy yourself a coke and you got yourself another free barbie!

Globetrotters hostel does good food but not for free!

The Hippy Club also does a free barbie one night a week!

I told you Darwin was a cheap living! free grub all over!
