I think that if you are truely interested in the remoteness of central Australia, and all that it has to offer, you should experience a night in the bush away from it all.Although there are several overnight camping safaris that operate out of Alice Springs, we decided to pitch our own tent, light our own fire, cook an authentic Aussie damper with billy tea and we sat and listened to the "Aussie bush sounds."
The first class bar car on the Ghan.Aboriginal theme and great for meeting older Aussies doing one of the great Australian train trips. We were definitely underdressed, but no one seemed to mind and loved hearing of our adventures.
