These pictures were taken from the ridge east of the south parking area. This is the south central part of the Reserve.
There is a small zoo at Wycliffe Well. We did not spend much time there but saw the emus and parrots.
While we were at Wycliffe Well, Zig (1+1) rescued a goanna that had gotten its head stuck in a soda can under the bridge by the creek.
A short drive from Alice Springs to the West MacDonnell Ranges you will find scenic desert landscapes......
As you walk the 9km loop around the base of Ayers Rock you will see many interesting sights such as these trees growing right out of the rock. Also notice the scaly texture of the rock's surface.
Well, not quite off the beaten path and it's certainly not a must see nor a tourist trap (it's free), go feed the carp in Darwin.
