 | Uluru National Park (Ayers Rock) Packing Lists | Tips 1 - 10 of 16 | | Popular Packing Lists | Miscellaneous Packing Lists Tips | All Tips (16) During quick weekend trip to Uluru, we enjoyed a weekend away, but since this was spur of the moment, we did not really pack properly. Definitely remember a few things, including most importantly, fly spray, sunblock, and a hat. In addition to that, lightweight clothing, preferably of a Steve Irwin style khaki, and do not forget your water!!
Definitely bring a digital SLR so you can see all the sights and bring them home with you. Also, remember a tripod if you want to get the different color shades of Uluru properly! Leave a Comment

Travel light. If you decide to climb Uluru, or even walk around the base, do not bother bringing a backpack. A bum-bag / pouch around the waist would be a sensible approach to carry a camera and a bottle of water in. It is a tough climb, and you want both hands free.
The red sand can stain, so, light coloured clothes are sensible in the relentless heat, yes, but easily stained by the red sand. A hat, sunglasses and a pair of running shoes or hiking boots are a must.
Sunscreen and plenty of it !! Fly and mosquito repellant may also be a wise choice.
People have died of heart attack and sunstroke climbing Uluru. If you are at risk, do not do it. I recommend going on the pre-dawn climb, so that you can finish just as the sun is rising. Otherwise, the temperatures are too severe. Leave a Comment

Remember to bring you mobile phone when you climb the rock - - in case someone happens to call and ask where you are! The signal is particlarly strong at the top ( if you are on the Telstra network , dont know about Optus/Vodaphone). Telstra made a point of this to demonstrate their Australia wide coverage, pity the signal isnt so good in less famous spots. Leave a Comment

There are tons of flies in this area. Take something that repels flies or wear that silly looking hat that has the corks hanging from the rim. Leave a Comment
