For individual travelers, the best way to explore the Blue Mountains is by taking a CityRail Train from Central Station to Katoomba (pls read my tip on transportation) then buy an Explorer Bus hop-on, hop-off ticket at Katoomba Station's exit. But if your want to join a tour-group, it's really easy. As I always recommend everyone who's coming to Sydney, for whatever you wanna do or wherever you wanna go, just start from the Sydney Information Center on the Rocks. There're always special travel deals and other seasonal packages available all year round. Just ask the ladies for assistance and also some advice on tour bookings, recommended agencies or just grab a 'The Word' magazine. Directions: The Rocks next to the Circular Quay

Govett's Leap provides fantastic views along the Grose Valley and onto the Blue Mountain's tallest waterfall - Bridal Veil Falls. As with so many vantage points sitting atop the plateau and its many gorges, it is also the starting point of many bushwalks down to the Valley floor below. These walks can be relatively short or involved full day hikes, involving as the longer ones do, a 300 metre descent. Govett's Leap is to be found at the eastern edge of Blackheath, a town 10kms north west of Katoomba (and on the train line). It is one of the most popular spots on the tourist run, with the car park usually full of tour buses. But they move on quickly :) Leave a Comment

Its name comes from colonial assistant surveyor, William Govett, who discovered it in 1831. However ït is also thought that Govetts Leap may also have been named after an escaped convict turned bushranger named Govett who preferred death to capture when trapped at the edge of the cliff by pursuing troopers. Legend has it that he wheeled his horse around and together they leapt over the edge. From this point you can see the amazing blue haze and rugged mountain territory in all its glory with nearby Bridal Veil Falls completing a spectacular picture and walks can also be taken into the valley from this point for the energetic Leave a Comment Address: 2km from Blackheath on Govetts Leap RoadDirections: Blue Mountains NSW AustraliaWebsite: http://www.austguide.com/index.php?option=com_mtree&task=viewlink&link_id=1373&Itemid=

Having been to see the kangaroos in the national park make sure you drive up to echo point. If the mist clears, and it does sometimes, I know because I was there, the views are breathtaking and there is a slight blueish tange to the air above the trees.
