You can wheel right up to the jetty and onto it. by unravelau Coffs Harbour would be among a number of cities in Australia that can boast about their record for having venues accessible and creating new opportunities all of the time. Just recently I noticed an add promoting sailing for people with disability and I thought 'good on ya Coffs'. We have come a long way from the one picture theatre that we used to have here that was only able to be accessed if a friend lifted a person and their wheelchair in. Most of the popular venues in Coffs Harbour are totally accessible. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Last week I took a trip around the gardens to check out the spring flowers in bloom....... Now I wish to go back again because we have had 2 full days of rain and I am sure that if it was possible, they would be even more beautiful to-day. The flowers in my garden and saying a big thank you to the rain. Have you ever noticed how well your plants come on with pure rain water as opposed to the tap? Leave a Comment

Tallowood Stump at the Big Banana by aussiedoug THE BIG BANANA Still not 100% sure if this is a must see or tourist trap! But my kids liked it & we had some fun on the toboggan ride. In fact we had fun on it a couple of times. If you want to know about the growing a harvesting of bananas then you can take a walking tour that shows you all the stages through to packaging. The photo with this tip shows my girls near a really big Tallowood stump, not far away from the actual Big Banana itself. Goodness knows how old this tree must have been when it was cut down. What a shame! There are other tours you can do & attractions to visit if you have the time. We wanted to do the Hillclimb train & railway ride to the top, but got there just a bit late after our toboggan rides. If only we'd done it the other way around. There's an indoor snow slope, but I personally wouldn't waste my time or money on it as we've tried that before at Mt Thebarton in Adelaide & it was like trying to ski on ice, not snow. If you have kids from little ones to big ones it's worth a visit, but it'll cost you depending on what activities/attractions you visit/participate in. Leave a Comment Address: Pacific Highway, Coffs HarbourDirections: Just north of town, by only about 5 minutes. On your left. You'll see the sign.Website: www.bigbanana.com.au

Strangely enough, Coffs Harbour is not actually at the harbour - the township is maybe a km inland. Over the years, the harbour has been built up with rock walls and now hosts a large fishing fleet, as well as private yachts. It is well worth the time to visit and stroll around looking at the boats, the seabirds, the general activity, the views back over the township and the beaches. When you've had enough, there are restaurants nearby where you can relax over a coffee. First photo: fishing boats in Coffs Harbour Second photo: looking back over the harbour to the town, with apartments visible on the hill. Address: The harbour at Coffs!

Beach panorama (expands) by tiabunna There is no shortage of marvellous sandy white beaches at Coffs Harbour, suitable for either fishing or swimming. The photo with this tip was taken from the harbour breakwater, to the north of the port and shows the beach and some of the small islands.

lovely to see you again ! by BerniShand OK, so the Pet Porpoise Pool is very tacky, but its still a fun place to visit it has two shows daily at 10.30 and 2.15, not only do you get to watch, but you can join in and walk the plank holding out a fish for the dolphin to leap and take from your hand, and after watching the tricks of the sea lion and seals you are rewarded with a very whiskery and fishy kiss from one of the seals. after the show you can go and pet the dolphins also here are penguins, emus, pelicans, talking cockatoos wombat and a kangaroo there is a large aquaruim with underwater viewing windows, in which are several inquisitive turtles admission is A$18 and there are shows every day Leave a Comment Phone: 02 6652 2164Directions: jetty end of Orlando Street

Public access to the foreshores is pretty good here. I don't know how long the pathway goes but provides a wonderful and paved walk from somewhere near to the Park Beach Bowling Club to the southern end of the Jetty Beach and finishes (at the moment) at the boat ramp just down from the Fishing Club - gazing at the south island (women's business). Leave a Comment Address: You can leave your car at many points alongDirections: the way, even close to the porpoise pool. where you might even take the branch which runs alongside there that would eventually lead you right into Coffs Harbour proper.

coffs harbour by BiancaVDH Check out this town, great to spend some days here. We stayed at the Opal Cove hotel, great place, a few km. out of town. From here we did a 4WD trip into a rainforest, went to the aquarium and relaxed at the beach. by unravelau Coffs Harbour is not the most easterly point of Australia's coastline but it still sees the sun rise pretty early none the less. I never cease to be amazed at the whole scene, i.e., of any sunrise from the Jetty, and the changes that occur in a short space of time. I have seen many photographers with their tripods line up before dawn in preparation to take a pic of the sunrise that I am lucky enough to see occasionally. Leave a Comment
