Coogee Things to Do

  • Coogee Beach

Coogee Beach is a popular Syndey suburb beach. The beach has nice surf and waves as well as some ocean pools. Life Guards are always on duty so you feel safe swimming. Our first visit to Coogee was when we walked the Scenic Coastal Walk from Bondi to Coogee. It was a spectacular walk that took us from north to south from Bondi Beach, Tamarama,...

  • Island Challenge

This is an annual event where participants swim around Wedding Cake island in search of glory... or just because they're mad and thought its a good idea. The swim is 2.4km and on the calendar of oceanswims. Last year the event attracted around 1000 competitors and many many more spectators from the beach. Its definitely an event to look out for...

  • Coogee Surf Carnival

This is held in Febuary each year and hosted by the Coogee Surf Lifesaving club. If you're planning on going for a quiet swim, this probably isn' the day for it, because most of the beach is closed to general swimmers for the day, but it is a great opportunity to see Surf Lifesaving Events in action, including Surfboats, the Ironman, and beach...

This pathway also leads through a picturesque little cove and reserve known as Gordons Bay.I always enjoy walking around our...

  • Coogee to Bondi walk

This is a quite popular walk - along the coastline between Coogee and Bondi. The walk offers some spectacular rock formations and cliffs. Along the way, you go past Cloveley, Bronte and Tamarama, so if your not as energetic, you don't really have to go all the way. The walk takes about 1.5 to 2hrs. In summer make sure you take a hat and...

So the surf season is over... what are you supposed to do on the weekend? Well if there's no patrol on the beach, it means its rugby Season. That's the time to hang out at the Rugby Club in Coogee, or better still go to a live game. Its only $15 and there's cheap beer, and snags on the BBQ. Our first night in Coogee we were starving on the way back to Jackie's. We decided to try this place after seeing their sign procalim "Brick Oven Pizza". I thought, "Yum, I could go for that." We walked inside and were told it would be about five minutes for a table; so we waited at their small bar. The place was very cramped and it was packed to...

Baker's Delight is one of my guilty pleasures in Australia. I have been to several of those around Sydney and also the one in Perth. And I almost always get the same Berry and White Chocolate Scone. Around Sydney they run about $1.90 and $2.10 in Perth but I could sit there and eat several per day if Liz would let me.They also have a great...

We've eaten here twice now 14 months apart. I need to learn my lesson and not come back. When I'm in Australia one of things I crave is Indian food. On this latest visit we had so few days to ourselves and only 5 days total that I had not gotten anywhere for some yet. I stopped in to take some pakoras and samosas back to the house. Tables are in short supply but we snagged one right outside. The menu here has a nice assortment of...

  • Coogee, Not Town

This is one I have trouble with as an outsider. The suburbs of Sydney are referred to by name. If you say you're going into town, they assume you mean Sydney. When going into the more down town areas of suburbs, you are supposed to say you're going Coogee/etc.
