Yes I know Australian sea gulls are much prettier than the ugly ones you find over seas, but if you start feeding them and throwing them your chips they will never leave you alone, this may result in a permanant bird phobia, seagull nightmares and other symptoms that I can not be held reposible for, so take my advice and do not feed the birds.
COOGEE
. These days there just seems to be so many do's and dont's...some good some bad.. This is a good one for everyone.. Now it an offense to smoke on the beach..and smokers will find that it is enforced and fines apply...SO, now as they say BUTT OUT no more butts in the sand only your own..
Please no glass bottles on the beach as broken glass and small feet dont go togeather..
Sydney is known for its many pristine Beaches wheather on the south side or the north side these beaches are aussie icons. The beach is a real fun place for the family but is not without its dangers,
BE WATER SMART
Quite often the surf can be very rough and conditions change ...most Sydney beaches are patrolled and lifesavers test the safest places each morning and set swim flags to the safest designated areas. These areas are for swimmers only. So , PLEASE Always swim between the yellow/red marked safety flags on ALL beaches.
Being ocean beaches Mother Nature has a hand to play also ...please be careful of "stingers" these are known locally as blue Bottles and their sting is extremely painful...they look like a small blue bubble that floats on the water but beneath the water they have a tail (stinger) that trails behind them...DO NOT TOUCH these blue Bottles...If you are stung go immediately to the local Surf Club where you can receive attention. There usually is a sign posted if these stingers are around.
PLEASE DO NOT TAKE ANY GLASS BOTTLES ONTO ANY SURF BEACH. BROKEN GLASS AND LITTLE FEET DONT GO TOGEATHER
AUSTRALIA has always been known on its sunny weather and fine beaches,of course these are not without their dangers. When out and about in the great outdoors, or enjoying a relaxing day at the beach ALWAYS use a good strong sunscreen. THis is imperative for your skin protection. The incidents of skin cancer in Australia are among the highest in the world. IMPORTANTLY when covering your skin make sure that you cover your nose and the tops of your ears with a sunscreen as these areas are amongst the most prevelant areas of skin cancer. Don't forget to Re- apply your sunscreen after being in the water..And wear a hat and sunglasses ..Its so "cool " to lay on your beach towel and "soak up the rays" but be aware of overexposure to the sun. Sunburn can ruin your holiday.
TAKE CAR ---AND BEWARE---BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY---AND ENJOY YOUR HOLIDAY
