Cronulla Beach

Cronulla Beach, Cronulla

skatzcatz Says:  seemingly endless miles of beach stretch north from Cronulla, becoming Wanda Beach and stretching to the distant horizon. Wanda and Cronulla Beaches are great places to get away from the busy Sydney Beaches and catch a wave, walk for miles, take a swim or just read a book....

Northies is the local "pub" as Laura called it. It is not what we would consider a pub...it's more like a nightclub/danceclub with live music and some gambling thrown in for good measure.

There were several areas to this place. We stayed in what they called "the grown up area". One of the other sections was filled with the young kids and teenagers...we felt as if we were babysitting.

It's definitly an interesting place to people watch for sure with all the drunken mayhem that ensues. We watched a couple of rowdy people getting bounced out and one girl even went toe to toe with the cops.... There was also a local guy who is about 70 who likes to take his shirt off and sing with whatever band happens to be playing...what a character.

Walking

Walking, Cronulla

cjg1 Says:  Walking around Cronulla is quite enjoyable. From the Rail Station it is a ten minute walk to the beach and shopping is even closer. Walking allowed us to find the quirky little shops we so enjoy especially the second hand bookstore.

Driving

Driving, Cronulla

cjg1 Says:  Driving to Cronulla is easy; finding parking is not always so. There are several parking garages in the area as well as on the street parking but during peak times the spaces are hard to come by. The two times we drove in instead of taking the train we had quite a lengthy...

Take the Train

Take the Train, Cronulla

cjg1 Says:  Cronulla is on the Illawarra line of the City Rail and is covered by a purple transit pass. We would catch the train and head out on a 45 minute ride to Cronulla that ended at the Cronulla Station. From the station you can walk, catch a taxi or a bus around town.

Equipment: Surfboard or bogey board.

Favorite thing: The ocean was great, the beach was quiet- its still awaiting summer where there is barely any room left in that sand.
