The Criterion Theatre: What about a Show
So if you are in Grafton you might check the web site or enquire at The Book Warehouse 65 Prince street and you might be lucky enough to be around for one of the Criterion shows.
In November 2013 there are plans to perform Sandy Wilson's "The Boyfriend". There will be a Preview, An Opening Night, and five other performances.
Some of the cast were at The Jacaranda Markets ...all dressed in costume to advertise the opening.
They were a lot of fun so those who can go to the Show will be in for a delightful time.

Ex Servicemen's & District Sevicemen's Clubs: Food.....poker machines....and.....beer
Well there are two main Clubs in Grafton....on the south side down by the river in Wharf Street you have the Ex-Sevicemen's Club and in Fry Street in Grafton itself there is The Grafton District Servicemen's Club.
The club in South Grafton has a most beautiful view of the Clarence River and was the venue for The Jacaranda Ball and a display of woodwork at Carnival time (November) On the one night we went the food was fresh and appealing and there was a la carte dining on offer....not many patrons though and the club closed early. There was no music nor entertainment on the Friday night and the poker machines (slots) were very greedy...not kind to visitors at all.
Now on Saturday night the Fry Street Club was very busy...we were lucky to find a table in the bistro. But apart from more people what was different?..This club is larger .....No music....Just unfriendly poker machines. And after we had lost our money the cafe was closed and we could not even get a coffee.
Grafton does not have much for dancing people it seems...unlike nearby Lismore where there are a couple of dancing venues..
We were told that the Clocktower hotel, the Village green Hotel, and Roches family Hotel usually have music on Friday nights but my bet is the music is the dreaded 'disco'
Dress Code: Tidy dress after 6pm in particular...no boots or thongs.
