An overview
iandsmith Says:
Kanangra Walls is a long cliff line that wraps around the southern and eastern sides of Kanangra Deep. The southern side has been heavily eroded by a number of small creeks, including Kanangra Creek and Kalang Creek. The lines of erosion can be clearly seen in the pictures....
Variety
iandsmith Says:
It's hard to put into words just what it's like to be out on the plateau. The ease of the walk at times along massive slabs of flat sandstone belie the absolute drama of the sheer cliffs that often lie right beside you. It's such a contrast. Then there's the vegetation;...
Plateau Walk
iandsmith Says:
The Plateau Walk initially descends beside a cliff face then cuts across a saddle and then kicks up again onto the expansive plateau where you can wander around over many tracks. However, due to the fragile nature of the soil, you are specifically requested not to go off...
Dance floor cave
iandsmith Says:
It's one of the most improbable things I've ever come across. Here, in this remote location amongst the Australian bush, a cave that used to have a dance floor.Of course, one forgets that once travel wasn't done in a motor vehicle. No, horses and walking were accepted as the...
Kalang Falls
iandsmith Says:
So, there I was looking for other tips and there aren't any. So, this is one of the two walks you can do at Kanangra Walls. It's called the Kalang Falls walk and takes you down steps (pic 4) to the first of a series of cascades that eventually finishes right at the bottom of...
ALWAYS CARRY AND USE A STRONG INSECT REPELLANT
Helpfulness
DennyP 792 reviews
Whenever out for the day in these wonderful National parks always carry with you a strong insect repellant. Being a local it is the first thing I put in my day pack.I really enjoy birdwatching and insects can be a real nuisance..There is nothing more annoying with being in the bush enjoying a good walk or hike and being pursued by "bugs" and insects..Australia is known for its most unwelcomed flies ..They seem to be a problem everywhere especially in the summer months..Use a strong insect repellant will keep them at bay and your days out will be more enjoyable..This also goes for the " Mossies" ( mosquitos in the evenings)..

Caution
iandsmith Says:
This is not an area to go wandering off the trail on your own. People get lost in the Blue Mountains every year with monotonous regularity. People die in the Blue Mountains every year. It is not an environment to be taken lightly; it can come back and bite you.So, ideally...
Getting there safely
iandsmith Says:
Kanangra Walls is a hard 220km drive from Sydney, particularly on a Friday night, as many parties do. Without stops, expect to take 3 to 3 1/2 hours.Take the Great Western Highway through the Blue Mountains and take the Jenolan Caves Road turnoff to the left at Hartley,...
