Canoeing on the River
Canoeing along the river is a pleasent way to spen an afternoon. There are a couple of companies who hire canoe's and kayaks and you can do orgainied tours or just take one out yourself. There are double and single canoes.

The surrounds were nice- lush bush, however, signs of desalinisation are clear as the hydropower project which takes water from the kangaroo Valley river to Sydney. There are some areas of big dry tree stumps in the middle of the rivier. You can only imagine what they would have looked like. It's interesting that the whole of the Kangaroo Valley is on water restrictions but the high-density living areas in Sydney where the water goes to are not.

Anyway, Kangaroo Valley is lovely, and canoeing is a good option.

Canoes $60 for a two-person or $30 for a one person canoe, and you can go as long as you like so long as you are back by 5pm.

    Eat Fudge
The Kangaroo Valley Fudge house has a wide range of flavours as well as sweets and ice cream. The fudge was not the best i have tasted, but its not bad.

    Visit historic Hampden Bridge
The bridge is 77 m long, and is a suspension bridge. It was built using local sandstone in 1898, which makes it quite a historic bridge by Australian standards.
    Well worth a look at.
If you stop just before you cross the bridge, there's a car park and a walking track down to the river underneath the bridge where canoes can be hired, or you can take a bit of a walk down there and admire the gorge beneath the bridge.

    Visit the township
The small township of Kangaroo Valley is full of craft shops of different descriptions, such as pottery, woodcraft shops and a leadlight shop. We found them all rather interesting, especially the woodcraft shop, where we saw Australian souvenirs and other unique wooden items which we'd never come across anywhere else in Australia.
    Well worth a visit.
The town is also very pretty with its mountain backdrop.

Visit the gorge under the bridge
We took a walk down below Hampden Bridge to admire the gorge, with its steep, rocky far side.

    Under the Hampden Bridge

    "Beware objects falling
    from bridge"

While we were walking beneath the Hampden Bridge, I came across this sign I thought was quite unusually placed....
Looks like they maybe have problems with people throwing objects off the bridge.
