    KATOOMBA
You know it's not such a long ride from the City to Katoomba. This depends on the amount of stops usually about 90 minutes or more..There is nothing like the coolness of the mountains on a really hot sydney summers day. Trains leave Central Railways station every hour (just check timetables) especially on weekends as some times there is maintenance trackwork on the lines. The "Intercity trains are comfortable and reasonably fast A return train ticket to Katoomba from the city central is about $25.00.
Never underestimate the weather here ..always take a jacket ..being in the mountains the weather can change very quickly. Also carry a good sunscreen with you as well.
Arrival at Katoomba will see you with a choice of bus transportation with different lines doing jump on /jump off tickets for the day to about twenty different destinations..There is a lot to see and do here. Take your time and enjoy this wonderful National Park area.
Trains leave from Central railway platforms #'s 12 & 13

    Trolley Tours Again

    by Winter_Magic Updated Apr 4, 2011

As one of the organizers of the Winter Magic Festival in Katoomba, I can happily recommend the Blue Mountains Trolley Service. They play a very strong and positive role in the local community and this service is the perfect way to get around once you get to Katoomba

Giant Chess every weekend on Carrington forecourt

There is no advantage in buying a combined bus and rail ticket for Katoomba. In fact, it is less expensive to buy the rail ticket and join up with Blue Mountains Trolley Tours when you arrive (see image Giant Chess is played each weekend on Carrington Hotel forecourt at top of town),

    FJ Tours

There are only a couple ways to get to Katoomba, bus, train, or personal car. If you are here for any long amount of time, you will probably want to get your own car, however there are taxis out there that could take you around if you take the train out there.

Katoomba is home to the Three Sisters, some fun shopping and also Scenic World. We decided to take the tour bus with FJ Tours, which was fun, however we did not get enough time at alot of the attractions!
