This is a popular recommendation for visitors to The Ridge - an old minefield, which is still worked - often seasonally - is a beautiful setting to watch the sun go down.

. The sunset from up here is just breathtaking, especially in the scape of the barren field, dotted with mullock heaps, the abandoned houses, vehicles, and resting mine machinery.

Drive around and see the local community - the housing - the absolutely secondary interest in the housing quality - the quirky way "lean-to's" are built - and eventually get more of a lean. No real difference in these to decades ago. Rudimentary, and barely functional.

Note the rocks on the roof - interesting way of anchoring the corrugated iron!

Many of the miners will have a little store, where you can go and buy some of their stones, usually at very good prices.
