It was lunchtime, so finding somewhere to eat is always a problem.
Located in the main street of Narribri, is the double story building known as "Watson's kitchen,'
This is the local Bakery that has been in the Miller family since 1946. It was quite busy, always a good sign in a country town.
What to choose? Well, the main was easy, but for the "afters," the choice of pastries was large and varied, all begging to be chosen. My Chocolate Eclair melted in my mouth. Afterwards, this was washed down by a good Hot Chocolate, also bought from the Bakery.
We ate our meal at the outdoor tables, enjoying the Autumn sunshine. These tables were in high demand! Upstairs, is the Coffee lounge, and adorning the walls are old photos of Narrabri.
Will be back again for sure.
OPEN...Monday to Saturday 6.00am - 5.45pm
Our first visit to this restaurant resulted in rave reviews from both of us. The ambience is absolutely fabulous with the space on 3 sides of an 'L' shaped room decorated like a station property verandah with corrugated iron roof and open railings. The bifold-doors between the restaurant and the adjoining function room are cleverly painted to look like a slab timber wall with agricultural and horsey implements there upon. At some stage of proceedings during the evening, lightning can be seen through upper windows and thunder rumbles in the distance. Before long, rain falls on the tin roof and streams off ( no guttering) like a mini waterfall into guttering on the floor right beside the patrons. 'Tis a wonder to behold.
The function room next door is worth viewing also with lifelike ye old worldy street scenes painted on the walls.
The menu is extensive ie the grilled steak menu has 9 choices from t-bone ($19) to 400gm filetMignon ($29). There are multiple choices of other meats, chicken, seafood etc. Kids are well catered for. Desserts choice 5 of ($4.00 - $13.00)
Wines by bottle and glass are very inexpensive. $4.70 a glass (choice of 7). Bottles $14.50 - $34.00 (choice of over 30).

Favorite Dish: For entree we had a dozen very good Coffin Bay oysters and garlic prawns which were good.
On our first visit, we ate grilled steak with the trimmings and accorded both meals top marks. On our latest visit, I elected to have a combination pork ribs/ steak dish. The steak was good but the ribs missed out badly. I should have known better, believing in the KISS principal. The missus opted for pepper steak & thought the selection of product by the kitchen not as good as the first visit & the pepper sauce not as good as we prepare at home. After absolutely looking forward to the second visit (booking 6 weeks in advance) we left thinking about how often one has slight disappointment on the second attempt at lots of new experiences.
Anyway don't let that stop you visiting! On the menu but not tried (should have) Hot Rock do it yourself at table with a huge choice of meats,chicken&seafood.....Next time.
