I wouldn't bring too much by way of luggage, but it really depends upon your major interests. Usually things can be hired (saves you carrying it). If I were visiting here I would only have one bag and a carry on that converts to a 'take around all over the place' that holds your important items. DON'T FORGET THE SUN SCREEN........... the single most important item............but there again you can get that everywhere here too.
Your wearing apparel also depends on what you will be doing here. If you are going to be going bush then I guess your best walking boots would make sense..............a light weatherproof jacket would never go astray and as for the rest well I would have summer gear and maybe one pair of warmer slacks (or jeans) and one cardigan...............probably see you through anything that you are likely to come across.
