The Hunter Valley has a long history of viticulture and winemaking, While it is not known when the first grapes were planted in the Hunter, historians believe that William Kelmann set a vineyard on his 2000 acre land grant along the Hunter River between Singleton and Branxton some time around 1830, while George Wyndham planted his first vineyard at...

  • Rivers and Creeks

There are a few beautiful Lakes, Rivers and creeks in this region. Lake St. Clair being just one of them. If I visited Singleton again today, I would have to ask directions to some of these lovely spots.

  • Railway Station

This railway station hasn't changed much over the years. It still looks very much as I remember it, from many years ago.

Singleton is not very far from Scone, that is a wellknown place for breeding horses, so maybe this farm has lots of horses as well. In any case I found this letterbox a very nice example for the variety of letterboxes that you will find when driving through New South Wales like I did.
Of course it is essential to have your own (rental) car, when you are searching for such boxes !

Singleton Off The Beaten Path

This is about as 'Off the Beaten Track' as you can get.
This photo was taken just a few years ago, when I visited Singleton again.
Sure did bring back some memories for me.

The old Tin School, where I started my school days, was still standing, very rusty, very old, and very abandoned.
I sure don't remember it that way, makes me wonder when it was used for the last time.
