    Trading Hours

by islandhopping Written Apr 16, 2008

Favorite thing: One of the most important thing that travellers to Sydney should remember is that after 6pm things tend to close down. The general trading hours are between 9am and 6pm for retail shops/malls/shopping centres. Banks open at 9/9:30am and close at 4:30/5pm. So whatever your planning to do in Sydney, it is always good to check the opening/closing times. Off course there are exceptions to this rule. Some places will stay open longer and Thursday is late night shopping day where things will close around 9pm. So if hanging out in a pub/club is not for you, the choice of activities after dark can be limited.

    Banking hours & currency

by dragontml Updated Dec 8, 2003

    Favorite thing:
9 am to 4 pm Monday to Thursday
9 am to 5 pm Fridays

Some have extended hours, including Saturday mornings.

Most Banks will exchange most foreign currencies, and foreign currency exchanges can be found at Sydney Airport and popular tourist spots such as Martin Place, CentrePoint, and Circular Quay.

    Australia uses decimal currency - 100 cents = $1.00
Notes presently in use are $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100 dollar bills.
    Coins are 5¢, 10¢, 20¢, 50¢, $1.00 and $2.00.
