Every January, the Sydney Festival takes place - a whole host of events including music, theatre and dance. It's a great time to visit Sydney! There's a website at www.sydneyfestival.org.au which may well be re-activated in time for the next one...

The Mardi Gras parade in March. If you're here at that time the city puts on a spectacular 3 hours parade along Oxford St. This year over 500.000 people turned out for the event so if you want a good spot, you must go early and/or bring something to elevate you.

During January and February the city arranges free open-air music event in the Domain (next to the Botanical Gardens). Ranging from plays to Opera and Symphony, there's something for everybody and it is a nice way to spend an evening with the city skyline as backdrop.
