 | Sydney Nightlife | Tips 21 - 30 of 413 | | We used to go here as often as we could on Wednesday night and sometimes also on Sunday night. These nights the pub is packed with all sort of people, like backpackers, locals and even the odd erotic dancer! Why all these people came was easy to say, there was a fantastic singer with a voice that you could compare to Barry White. Naturally he sang quite a few soul songs, but even U2 wasn't an exception! A natural talent I can tell you. His name is Beau and I think nowadays he only performs on the Sunday night. Get in early or otherwise you might have to wait outside.

If you want to have a drink at one of the nicest locations in Sydney make sure you go to Manly and go to the Manly Wharf Hotel. You can't miss this place it's right there at the ferry terminal. You can sit outside on the veranda or just inside. When there's rugby matches they are broadcasted on a big screen inside. The staff is very friendly and efficient. The drinks aren't the cheapest around but with a view of the harbour it's okay to pay just a few cents extra. Another bonus is you can watch the ferry come in, so you'll never miss the last ferry back to the city. Watching the sunset here is a good pasttime too. They also serve good food. Leave a Comment |
Part of the Old Fitzroy Tavern, this cozy 60 seat theatre has put on over 60 shows including the premieres of around 30 Australian productions for over 47,000 punters since 1997 - no small beer for a pint sized and unfunded theatre in deepest darkest Woolloomooloo! So, if you fancy the best that Aussie theatre has to offer in authentic and intimate surroundings - come here! The best deal by far on offer is the famous ‘Beer, Laksa and Show’ deal at $30. Other prices are $18 concession & $24 Adult. Most preview nights are $15 and many of the companies run a ‘Cheap Tuesday’ ticket. Check out their great website for further details - I feel honoured and privileged that this was my 'local' when I lived here in Sydney...

Great live music 7 days a week. Fantastic atmosphere and this is one of my favourite places to go to. It is right in the city centre and somehow I go here very often. The venue is established on 3 floors. Ground floors a mid level and the top floor has some pool tables and a stage for the bands to play on.
No dresscode except for maybe on Saturday's: no trainers... Leave a Comment |
Like the sign says, its the oldest pub in Sydney. Let me tell you, they make a great draft stout as well, one of the best I've ever tasted. Even though its not far from the Rocks, there is nothing conceited or snobby about this place. Feel free to wander in and relax, chat a little, no one really cares who you are, so long as you can carry a conversation or tell a joke.

I was back and forth on the merits of doing a bridge climb.... it's so expensive. In the end I decided it's one of those things that you will probablly only do once, even if you visit Sydney multiple times, so I plunked down my money (or more properly my credit card) and up I went. Up, that is, after an hour's safety briefing, jumpsuit fitting, training session, and last-minute toilet visit. The climb takes 3 and 1/2 hours (prep, up and down), and as I was in the 9:35 pm group, I actually *was* on the bridge at midnight. Was it worth it? Definitely. I might even consider doing it again on some future visit to Sydney.
Wear whatever is comfortable. You will be issued a jumpsuit to put on over (or in place of) your clothes. Remember that you will be getting some exercise and may get a bit sweaty. Wear closed shoes. If you don't have your own, they will loan you some rather uncomfortable-looking rubber trainers. Ah. Almost forgot... you will have to do a breathalyzer test before the climb, so don't have that second beer to try to get your courage up! Leave a Comment |

The best day to go to Scruffy's has to be Tuesday. This night is called Tight Arse Tuesday, which basically means that everything is cheaper. For a jug of beer you pay just 7 dollars!! The best thing about the Tuesday is that it also means games night. On the ground floor there are various cackroach races throughout the night in which you can participate too. However if you decide to do so, you have to pick the cackroach up yourself and put it in the right spot. Other games are snale races and ballon blowing, which means that the first one to blow the balloon to pieces will get a free beer. Scruffy Murphy's has live mucis every night and is a great place to go out. The opening times are variable but they're always open till late.

Smart Casual. The security is pretty strict. They will not let you in if they suspect you. Leave a Comment Theme: CasinoAddress: 80 Pyrmont Street, PyrmontPhone: (02) 9777 9000 |
We came here twice during our trip. Once on Monday afternoon and then again on Saturday for a last meet up and drink before a relaxing evening at home. The pub is quite comfortable and I did not further explore the hotel, club, brasserie. But I did enjoy my visits here and it is much cheaper for the same amount of beer than the Lowenbrau just up the block. Leave a Comment |
A very nice place to go for a drink, where not so many tourists go to is the area of Woolloomooloo. If you go to the waterfront there are lots of nice pubs and little restaurants where you can go for a beer. I went here with my colleagues once for a x-mas and new years drink. It was great fun and the places we went to were very good. Guarenteed fun! Leave a Comment Theme: Other |
