Coogee Bay Hotel is just opposite Coogee Beach. It's open during the day for meals and drinks, and of course, open at night too for meals and drinks.
There is a large outdoor section which is really nice during the summers or during a nice sunny winter's day.
It can get a little "rowdy" at night where the locals, other Sydneysiders and tourists all mingle and drink a lot, hence many drunk people about. But, it's a nice spot to hang out.
News: Recently (year 2008), there was a report that faeces were put inside an ice-cream sundae. I am unsure of the outcome if it's true or not, but feel free to try this "Coogee Bay Special" and let me know. ;)
Dress Code: It's a fairly casual pub/bar, but it's always a safe bet for guys to wear jeans and girls, well, anything really.
There should be a category for " Daylife" as well.A popular hangout on the weekend and right on the beach at Coogee, We like to go here on Sunday afternoons, sit in the sun with a beer and listen to their live bands. Stay until the sun goes down and it turns into a great nighttime spot as well. Across the road and up a little bit is the Coogee Bay Palace Hotel. This is a 3 level club and live music venue. The middle floor is a dance room but upstairs is a live band set up. Cost at the CBH, mixed spirits $5, beer schooner, $3-4, Corona $6. Check out website for Happy Hour specials and cocktails. Great cafe style menu.
Dress Code: Casual, just about anything goes in the beer garden. People walk in straight off the beach. You may be asked to cover up your speedos however and footwear of some sort. You would be mad to try and walk around on concrete in the middle of an Australian summer anyway. You didnt need the skin on the bottom of your feet did you?
The Coogee Bay Hotel (Coogee) has good food, good bar and a club afterwards.
Dress Code: None though they are really strict on ID - my friend and I (26 and 32) got sent back to our hostel one night to get our passports!!
It's a pub for people over 18. It has music on at a weekend so that you can have a dance.
It's quite a small venue but worth checking out if you are in Coogee.
Make sure you have i.d. on weekend night.
Dress Code: I think it isn't very fussy as there are a lot of backpackers in the area therefore they don't expect you to be too smartly dressed.
