Scruffy Murphy's, Sydney
The best day to go to Scruffy's has to be Tuesday. This night is called Tight Arse Tuesday, which basically means that everything is cheaper. For a jug of beer you pay just 7 dollars!! The best thing about the Tuesday is that it also means games night. On the ground floor there are various cackroach races throughout the night in which you can participate too. However if you decide to do so, you have to pick the cackroach up yourself and put it in the right spot. Other games are snale races and ballon blowing, which means that the first one to blow the balloon to pieces will get a free beer.
Scruffy Murphy's has live mucis every night and is a great place to go out. The opening times are variable but they're always open till late.

almost everybody looks for an irish pub and live music when looking for nightlife on their travel. This pub gets pack and it has a good mix of crowd so bring your groove on and jam with the bands here.
Dress Code: smart casual
There are so many possibilities! Still, considering I'm living on a quite tight budget it would be Scruffy Murphy's.
An Irish Pub with three levels; upstairs: restaurant/pub; groundlevel: Pub with often live music; downstairs: pub dancefloor with modern, commercial music. Positive: no entrance, easy going atmosphere; negative: beers quite expensive, cues on saturdays.
Dress Code: Not really
Gosh!!! I love this place, this is one of the best bars in Sydney, really!!! Though the frontdoor guards are a lil' scary and the people inside are a lil' rude, loud and flirty, it's still my favorite place anyway. Scruffy Murphy's can light up your night like no other places; Live bands, people carryin' pitchers around, getting to talk with complete strangers sharing their travel xpriences. It would never be a dull moment here!!!
Don't ever show off yourselves as an American, the MC here is very sarcastic and he doesn't seem to like the Americans that much, believe me he'll embarrass you through his words (with a mic in his hands, of course) that kinda pissed my friends off!!
Dress Code: Casual
The strangest St. Patrick's Day I have had. I arrived in the afternoon when a naked body paint beauty contest was held. This was followed by some karaoke and finally a couple of bands played throughout the evening although I can't remember too much about them to be honest. ;-)
Dress Code: Any, even naked as long as you are wearing body paint!
If your up early in the morning you can get a $5 breakfast which is pretty good, you can come back later and then enjoy the $5 steak and chips and what a steak it is as well.
Great in the day, usually got the sport on and some half decent music but once the Sydney sun goes down Scruffy's turns is to backpackers central. More drunk Irish women thanyou could shake a stick at, not to mention other nationalities.
Its a great place for a laugh and to get drunk but it is by no means decent. good place to start a night off but more often that not its also the place to end the night.
Dress Code: Non that i was aware of, i think no trainers at the weekend
