 | | | | Sydney City Bars / Clubs: It doesn't matter what you are... | | | | | |
It doesn't matter what you are looking for in Sydney, chances are you are going to find it. Sydney has everything from dance clubs to concerts to pubs with live bands to coctail bars to rave parties to RSL clubs etc etc... If you are looking for a good night of dancing to techno music, check out Oxford Street. DCM would have to be one of the most popular dance clubs in Oxford street. Be warned that if you do want to spend a night out dancing on Oxford Street, you will have to pay. Entry into most dance clubs is anywhere from $10-$20 and then you have to buy drinks, although most people in these clubs drink bottled water... if you end up here you will realise why. Lets just say it isn't because water is cheaper! Drinks are EXPENSIVE!!! If you do end up on Oxford Street, you must keep an open mind. Sydney is full of openly gay people and you will find most of them on Oxford Street. There are also a lot of Transvestites/Transexuals and if you are a man you need to be careful because sometimes it is hard to tell. One thing you need to know when going out on Oxford Street....You MUST be dressed in something a little classier than a pair of jeans and a T-shirt, especially guys. There were times I would be standing in the huge lines outside the nightclubs (which doesn't happen if you know someone) and I would be let in before the guys that had been waiting a long time... it is just harder for guys to get in anyways and you will not get in in a pair of jeans even with nice shirt and shoes. If dance clubs don't interest you, there are pubs and RSL clubs which are great for cheap drinks. Be careful in these places though, especially pubs, because when people get drunk they get kind of rowdy and there are a lot of fights, sometimes you just have to look at someone the wrong way (or maybe even smile at them) and you will be in trouble. You best bet for nightlife if you are a tourist is to go to the places tourists frequent, there is less trouble here and you will get to meet a lot of new people too. Anyway, like I said, in Sydney you are bound to find whatever you are looking for. Leave a Comment Theme: Live Music

If you want to know what's on, where it is, how much it costs, what the music policy is and dress code (if any), your first stop should be something like the free street press "3D World Magazine" (in a lot of music, urban clothing, etc shops), with an online presence at http://www.threedworld.com.au/ Probably Australia's premiere dance community and site is InTheMix (http://www.inthemix.com.au), which (along with 3D World) is often cited as a promoter or supporter of various events. For the best idea about upcoming events, check out the busy forums. Leave a Comment Theme: NightclubWebsite: http://www.inthemix.com.au/
