    I reckon ECQ is the best tourist bar in the Winter. It's way too cold to be outside, and ECQ affords you gorgeous views from the inside - tho if u really want some fresh air there's a balcony/glass windows. Go on a friday night for a bit more atmosphere. During the week is a bit quieter - good for catching up w friends. mid 20 to mid 30s crowd... not a place u need to yell to have a conversation, and yet everyone seems friendly/willing to mingle.

    no dress code that im aware off.

  • Small but intimate. Have a feed in the restaraunt in the front, perhaps a drink from the side bar and then head to the back for more drinks and perfect place to dance! Apparently post-gig/show haunt for music big wigs. The signed photos on the wall says it all.

  • It is easy to carried away and spend waaay to much on a good night out in Sydney. We found a bar in Taylor Square (just off Oxford street) called Kinselas that sold bottles of sparkling wine for $15 Australian. Nice. Middlebar is a funky bar upstairs for dancing with no cover charge. Mint.

    Clean and trendy. Glamourous if you're that way inclined.

  • The Piano Bar is a throw back to the days of glamour in Sydney. Housed in the Novotel Menzies this bar has live piano music (requests taken) on Thursday-Saturday nights. The clientel is mostly older people and hotel guests, but you will find a number of young professionals especially on Saturday nights. I've met a number of older couples who have returned here to relive the glamour that was the Menzies in its heyday. A thorough drinks list is available as are light snacks and canapes. The big comfortable leather easy chairs make it very easy to sit down and enjoy the pianist over a few drinks only to look at your watch and realise it's already 3am. This is a great place to meet up with friends for a pre dinner drink night cap. Definitely a place for those who like to hear their conversations and who enjoy old world charm. Highly recommended.

    No special dress code as is part of a hotel, but you'd be smart to wear elegant casual.

    Whenever I wanted to meet someone, or just chill out with a book or newspaper over a coffee, Jet was the place to be! With its big glass windows and outdoor seating to see and be seen, this lively Italian cafe/bar does excellent coffee and has a great breakfast menu. It is a fantastic place to meet with friends as it is right in the centre of town at the southern end of the QVB building facing the statue of the great lady herself. On top of the Town Hall city rail station, in the centre of the shopping district, next to the Town Hall and a stone's throw from George Street - what better location can there be for a bar/cafe!? There is also a small quieter upstairs area where you can hide away as well - which is where we retired to in our inaugural Sydney VT Meet over some delicious pizzas!

    Scubar was the bar that my best friend and I started with every day during our 2 week party stint in Sydney. It was a smallish bar with really cool bartenders and waitresses. Drinks were cheap. Music was good. And the atmosphere was just plain fun! After we got our drink on we'd generally head out to one of the other clubs that we could find to dance and meet women.

    There was no dress code that I'm aware of.
