If you're in Sydney on a budget, Alice Thai can be your ticket to a full stomach, thanks to their A$7 lunch specials. There're quite a few choices on the lunch menu, and the portions are pretty good sized. They will fill you up. Food itself isn't necessarily the tastiest Thai you've ever tried, but it is most certainly edible, and for the price you can't beat it. Alice is on the 2nd floor of Hotel Sweeney's - a seemingly popular place among the locals for a quick cheap lunch, a few quick (and also cheap) pints in the bar on the 1st floor or on the restaurant floor, outdoor seating on the roof, and the ever-popular FREE internet access in the attic.
Favorite Dish: I ate here a total of about 3 times. Both chicken & beef Pad Thai weren't bad. Green Curry was a bit boring, but not bad either.
Alice's is a small Thai restaurant over a bar, which cooks Aussie food below. You have the option to order the pub food off of the same menu. I had the sausages and mashed from the pub, which came with gravy (on the sausages) and was very very tasty. Miyuki didn't care for the Thai food as much. Looking around, I didn't see one table of people eating only the Australian or only the Thai food, so I guess this is a place people go when they have different tastes in their group. I would also rate Alice's as very accomodating to people with children.
Favorite Dish: Sausages and mashed.
