Central Sydney Restaurants: Sky Phoenix - trolley service dim sum
  • Satisfaction:
  • A nice restaurant to go to for dim sum (aka "yum cha" in Australia). The dim sum is served using a trolley service. Reasonable prices.

Central Sydney Restaurants: Avoid at all costs
  • Satisfaction:
  • Without doubt the worst place ate (or tried to eat) in Sydney (or anywhere else in the world for that mtter). I went here on my way to meeting my sister who was arriving from Townsville at the airport as it was cheap and very convenient (i was staying at the YHA hostel nextdoor). I ordered a pasta dish and a glass of orange juice. My food had still not arrived after 30 minutes so I explained to a staff member that I was on a tight schedule - they apologised, but 15 minutes later my food had still not arrived. At this point I decided to leave the restaurant but the manager demanded that I pay for the drink even though I had waited 45 minutes for food which had not arrived. I left the restaurant but he grabbed me and informed me that he would call the police if I did not pay. I am normally a fairly easy going person - but i was furious. I paid the guy, throwing the money down on the street and had the satisfaction of watching him scrambling after the rolling coins. Terrible service - I would urge you to avoid this establishment, despite the convenience.

I wish I had actaully got some food here so i could review it.

Central Sydney Restaurants: The name says it all
  • Satisfaction:
  • This is one of my favourite places to eat in all of Sydney. Located very close to Central Station, it is just across from my workplace and hence discovered its eclectic range of Good Food by default. It is open early each morning to provide coffee and freshly baked goods (baked on premises) to workers. The breakfast menu is excellent: I love the Bircher Muesli (oats soaked in orange juice with grated green apple, yogurt, honey and strawberries) and the sourdough toast that comes with eggs is the freshest I've had! During the day you can have a range of salads or rolls (again with fresh bread), more baked goods... may i recommend the Brownies (these are very moist with white chocolate pieces which melt in you mouth- totally worth the calories). At dinner time the place transforms into a Thai restaurant with great Thai food. There is plenty of room to sit- big windows, a courtyard with a small fountain, and nice wooden chairs and tables. The toilet is the only hard thing to find (through the curtain, through the garage, up the stairs, round the corner, through the corridor and to the left). p.s. The waiters are also very very attractive. This is a completely professional and honest observation.

The bircher museli for breakfast, any of the salads for lunch, the best brownie ever for snack and pad thai for dinner.

Central Sydney Restaurants: Thai food at World Square, Sydney
  • Satisfaction:
  • This is a busy restaurant which is situated alongside other restaurants at World Square, in central Sydney. The dish that I had was delicious, and the prices were average prices. There is a large selection of dishes on the menu.

I had the Pineapple Rice with seafood, and a thick and creamy Banana milkshake/thickshake (real banana, not artificially flavoured and coloured). The colour, fragrance and taste of the pineapple rice with seafood was very appetising and wonderful.

Central Sydney Restaurants: Where business conservatives meet after work
KInd of an upscale pub with trendy food and atmosphere, the Austrailian offers a good chance for a tourist to mingle with Sydney's business crowd. Grab one of the tables tucked away in the bar and munch out on good pub food.

Try the kangaroo pizza. It was awesome.

    Central Sydney Restaurants: Frenetic Noodles
Like most of my restaurant recommendations, the decor isn't much to talk of, mainly persian rugs on the wall and plastic grape bunches hanging from the ceiling, but the food is fantastic and the prices are good and low. It's a mad place and being quite small, you may have to wait a short while but it's well worth it. The food is honest and cheap and tastes marvellous. There's a real energy here and you can watch the noodles being prepared along with all the other stuff if you get to sit at the table by the kitchen wondow.

All the food here is good. I don't have a favourite yet, but watch this space because I'll probably be eating there alot.

Central Sydney Restaurants: Not only is the food A+, the presentation is A+
  • Satisfaction:
  • Food - I was expecting the same type of quality food when I went to The Summit, but it was a great surprise that it was great food as well, naturally, great views Ambience - I went on a Monday night, and there are two sections, one for people who want a drink and some "nibbly" food, whilst th other half is for people who want a good feed. Though its not as high as AMP Tower, the revolving restaurant is still high enough to see all of Sydneys landmarks
