Big white scallops, fresh noodle, hot soup.....what else can I ask for!! I spent at least 3 times a week here at China Town Foodcourt. Lots of Choices at the best price you can find; Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, Japanese,....But I strongly recommend scallop noodle @ Chinese noodle shop and Thai's spicy hot&sour soup (Tom-Yum-Kung). The Japanese also offer a cheap croquet set menu, and many more. China Town Foodcourt is on the top floor of the white 3-storey building, sorry I don't know the exact name.

 | | | | Chinatown Restaurants: Very good Chinese | Satisfaction: | | | | |
Staying in Chinatown Sydney last week was great. (Definitely not the hotel) It’s a short walk to the city center and buses and cabs are everywhere so you don’t spend your holiday waiting, and the food! One night after a late nap we awoke around 10.00pm a little hungry. Since we were in Chinatown a small something with rice was decided upon, you know no song and dance just a snack. Well, ……. We walked around the streets and came across this restaurant that was packed and had twenty plus people waiting just to get in. Curiosity, and being told we could not get in for at least half an hour was just to much and we just had to see what all the fuss was about.
We left after midnight. I had Peking duck by myself, which was fantastic and Caroline, had vegetarian rice as planned. The menu is amazing, with an incredible array of fresh seafood. Looking at the large crab and fish meals arriving at the tables around us made the wait well worth while. I should warn you that upstairs is a bit full on, with ‘Happy Birthday’ blasted at you over the speakers every few minutes. I was also told that they are open to 4am, so in the wee hours when band members and drunk footballers decide they need to eat, it can be entertaining. Well worth the visit and next time I will go when I am hungry and have seafood. | | | | Chinatown Restaurants: Uygur Cuisine | Satisfaction: | | | | |
Simply -- this food is DELICIOUS. Uygur people come from Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in North-West China. The usual religion is Muslim, and therefore the food is Halal. This restaurant which is family run, has very nice decor including displays of Uighur musical instruments, fabrics, and traditional male hats worn by every Uighur man in Xinjiang, and they will also play Uighur music dvds and sometimes have live dancing. A real speciality and my recommendation are the Noodles. The texture is different to Italian and Chinese (but perhaps most similar to Japanese Udon). The sauce also "makes" the dishes. The menu is in Uighur, Mandarin and English. Staff are happy to explain what each dish is.
The Uighur Noodles are a must-try dish. They have bits of vegetable and mutton in the very tasty sauce. You can order them chopped into smaller pieces (which can make them more manageable but no less tasty). I also love the fried eggplant, and the stirfry chicken. Uighurs are also famous for their kebab skewers (lamb/mutton on skewers). The smell of sizzling mutton/lamb is something unmistakable when you go to a Uighur restaurant. You can also order banquets -- such as traditional lamb on spit, but that must be requested in advance. It is open 7 days, for lunch and dinner.
