    Grappa Ristorante: Italian Food

by cybergenic Written Jul 29, 2007

A choice of wood fired pizza, pasta, degustation or even simple apertivos.
    Great service.
    Warm atmosphere.
Corkage is $9 so you are probably better off buying one of the restaurants wines rather than BYO.

Favorite Dish: Osso Bucco - Melts like butter in your mouth.

    Bar Italia: Must Eat

    by shelli23 Written Dec 22, 2004

Although Bar Italia's Owner's Vaucluse Mansion is no reflection on the decor of Bar Italia, it is a must visit, if only for their gorgeous original gelatos. Anyone from Leichhardt will tell you to go there, the food is really reasonably priced and the people are just amazingly friendly.

Favorite Dish: Calamari and Chips - forget greasy seafood and chips wrapped in newspaper, this is the ultimate perfection of hot chips.

Norton Street Leichaardt: LITTLE ITALY - NORTON STREET

by SierraSydney Updated Dec 2, 2004

Come and see our 'Little Italy' known as Norton Street in Leichaardt where you can eat the best Italian food in Sydney from a wide selection of restaurants, bars and cafes. Be sure to check out the "Italian Forum" designed just like the Old Italian Forums and Piazzas with fountains.....

If there is a popular Soccer game on, Norton Street is definately the place to be - during World Cup or similar times the street is closed off for street partying.

Favorite Dish: Any dish in the forum is always good - A definite unique shopping, dining and entertainment experience set in an architectural atmosphere that resembles that of an Italian Piazza.

Mezzapica: Pasta and Italian as such

    by Audrey118 Written Dec 31, 2002

I wanted to have an Italian meal and my friend decidedly drove us to Leichardt which has lots of great Italian places, and also very good gelato at an arcade.

We chose Mezzapica based on our familiarity - but there are many great ones in Leichardt area - home to many Italians.

Favorite Dish: As soon as we ordered our drinks, the hotel gave us complementary crispy toast with some olive spread. We ordered some entrees to share - white bait and calamari fried - and also fried zucchini flowers - which was esplly yum becos in the heads of the flower they have studded it with srhimp paste. For mains I insisted on having rice - risotto becos back in Malaysia is bever as good. I had slivers of roast duck breast with truffled risotto while my husband had linguine with fish, mussels etc, and it had a nice stock with it. My friend had fettucini with tomato based sauce and full of scallops, large prawns - everything in shell!!! and another friend had salmon. The serving here is really really huge - I could never eat all that - maybe I could - spread over two meals!!!!

Plastic chairs, lino and simple food. this is no nonsense and no drama. A Little Italy fave, you're just as likely to meet Italian boys from Fairfield as you are to meet the local political elite.
You have to queue to order and then the meal is brought to you. Nothing spectauculr but a great people-watching exercise (watch out for the Italian boys and their souped up cars) and fun all the same.
While in Leichardt check out the Forum at the Parramatta Road end of Norton Street. A slice of Siena in Sydney - complete with gorgeous Italian Aussies in their fineset Versace parading around. Priceless.

    Favorite Dish: Foccacia
    Fussilli with tuna and capers
Coffee - but don't ask for that decaf skim stuff with a twist of lemon. This is REAL coffee.
    Canoli
    Gelato

    EAT STREET: NORTON STREET...

    EAT STREET: NORTON STREET LEICHARDT.
This is Sydney's 'little Italy'. If you are looking for a place where you can get a great Italian food, this is where you should go. Bar Italia at the end of the cafe strip was the first cafe established on Norton Street, which is now bustling with cafes and restaurants, mainly serving fabulous Italian food. Go to Mezza Pica for a MASSIVE bowl of pasta, Bar Italia for the best coffee and gelato, and make sure you make a trip to the Italian forum as well.

Favorite Dish: Pasta! Veal! Red Wine!

Great friendly service. Good prices. BYO and licensed. Great food. Regularly changing menu. Good atmosphere. Indoor and courtyard dining.

Favorite Dish: Bruschetta - great starter - italian bread with olive oil, semidried tomatoes, basil and fresh parmesan
Linguine alla vongole - Linguine with clams, olive oil, garlic and a little chile.
    Semifredi - delicious chocolate dessert
