Awaba Beachside Cafe: All White in Balmoral

A treasure overlooking the beach in Balmoral. One of only a few of the options in a glorious location. Not cheap, but then nothing is here with the exception of the take-away chippie. But 'Awaba' is hip, stylish, excellent food, welcoming and formal enough to be an eating destination, informal enough just for coffee. And it really is decked out almost entirely in white - except for the mirrors running along one interior wall and the two outer walls with huge open windows - sit at the bench seating here for a glorious view.

    Open for breakfast (7.30am - 11.15am) and lunch (12 noon -3pm) 7 days per week plus dinner Thurs-Sat, 6pm-9.30pm

Favorite Dish: The special of herb gnocchi with duck and caramelised onion was spectacular, as was the herb and parmesan encrusted chicken schnitzel. But simpler meals, foccacias etc also available (and a whole display of cakes and friands looked inviting but we managed to look the other way :))

Cremorne Chicken and Salads: Cremorne Chickens and Salads

We discovered this little hole in the wall the day we returned to Sydney from Caloundra. We had no idea where we were going when we set out on our forray for food, but as luck would have it we happened across "Cremorne Chickens and Salads".

There is not much to the place but I like the high counter chairs which face out to the street. You can eat and watch the world go by.

Favorite Dish: We liked this restaurant so much that we agreed to make it our last stop of our Sydney trip.

I had a plain hamburger but according to my standards it was far from plain. They put beets on it!! Yes, pickled beets and it was such a great taste sensation!! Their chips were hot, golden and plentiful. My husband had the chicken burger and he raved about it as well.

They also make brilliant salads and other hot foods such as, Hot mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, baked pumpkin. Wow the list goes on and on.

Just remember they are open 7 days a week form 8:30am to 8:30pm

Located right on Balmoral Beach, great food, good for breakfast on the weekends, good place for a special occassion, they also have very good wines!

Favorite Dish: Mmmm... favourite menu item? The whole menu is mouth-watering modern Australian cuisine...
