Sydney Fish Market.: Don't miss this experience!
One of my favorite memories of visiting my friends a few years ago is going to the Market with them. We went for lunch, and it was PACKED. We wandered through this huge building filled with lots of seafood venders. The seafood was brought right in fresh that day. We bought food from venders that prepared the food for us so we could eat it on the wharf. However, there were plenty of places that sold the stuff raw so you could take it home and prep it yourself.
Like I said, the place was packed. We ended up sitting on the ground on the wharf having a picnic because the tables were all full. My friends told me that this was normal - there's hardly a day that it isn't crammed with people, which tells you how good the place is.
Favorite Dish: The prawns were excellent.
In addition to fresh seafood, there are venders who sell wine (they will uncork it for you), fresh bread, and fruits and vegies so you can really have a complete meal.
You can also get all the extras - lemons to squeeze over fish, dipping sauces, etc.

Well it is not classically a restaurant, but the Sydney fishmarkets supply seafood to all of Sydney's restaurants. The Sydney fishmarkets is home to the city’s widest variety of fresh seafood – ready to take home or cooked to perfection to enjoy while taking in the views from the promenade of the wharves and harbour.
eg. 1 dozen Sydney rock oysters can be bought for approx US$4. or fresh cold prawns, mmmm. beautiful. At the Sydney fish markets, there are about 15 different seafood retailers to buy from, delis, a sushi bar, a bakery, a fruitmarket and a liquour store. There are benches outside by the water where you can sit an enjoy the culinary delights. Apparently it is the largest fish market in the Southern Hemisphere.
Favorite Dish: Fresh oysters with a squeeze of fresh lemon.

This is not an upmarket place to eat, but the seafood is very very fresh, as all the shops are located in Sydney's fish market. And the prices are really good.
Favorite Dish: Seafood. This market is excellent and very reasonably priced. There is a wide range of stalls selling everything that swims. Best at lunch time.

Ok i admit i didnt get enough of the seafood, the lobster and seafood platter didnt satisfy me. Well since the food is so fresh and cheap, i got to go for it no matter what.
Sydney Fish Market.: Tempura Prawns
Get down there and find the lunch-places and order a portion off fresh prawns, tempura style. You'll regret it if you don't try it ! We will certainly go there again.
