Quay: Quay, in the Overseas Passenger Terminal
Sydney is a beautiful city and home to some world class restaurants. Even better is that a few of the city's best restaurants are located by the harbour, so you get a great combination of excellent food paired with fabulous views. One of these restaurants is Quay, which is located on the 3rd floor of the Overseas Passenger Terminal. The floor to ceiling windows allow for spectacular views…shame about the carpet!
Quay has a real 'special occasion' feel about it, which is part to do with those views, and part to do with the five star service and delicious food. Alex & I had a decadent lunch there one day with my sister Alison, and were given one of the best tables in the house. We started with a nice cold glass of Australian Sparkling wine as we read through the menu and toasted to good health.
Favorite Dish: To start, we all had the Sea Pearls - sashimi tuna, pearl meat, caviar, smoked eel. This was an exquisite dish with amazing flavours - have a look at the picture to get an idea of it.
For main course, Alison and I both had the Crisp confit of pressed duck, with white turnips, sea scallops and chive flowers. The duck was amazingly rich and tasty, and the turnips and scallops were prepared in such a way that they looked identical to each other and it was a fun game to guess which flavour you would be having with each mouthful. Alex had the Crisp Murray cod with braised oysters, lettuce puree, baby leeks and shaved cuttlefish. He wasn't blown away by this, but did enjoy it.
And then to dessert. This was the main reason I wanted to come to Quay - I had heard about an evil chocolate treat that earned the accolade of being possibly the best dessert Alison has ever had (yes, she had dined at Quay before).
Right then, we all ordered the Five texture chocolate cake. It is made up of 5 different textures of chocolate - a crispy chocolate biscuit base with a moussy chocolate filling and a thin dark chocolate top, sitting in a pool of white chocolate. But wait - that is only 4 types of chocolate....look, here comes the waiter with a small pot of hot chocolate fudge, a blob of which is spooned on top of the tart - the middle of the tart *suddenly* collapses - and voila! Dessert is served.

Eat Fifteen: Tasty Lunch with a View
As my parents and I strolled along the walk back from our Opera House tour, this little place caught our attention (there was a picture of a bread bowl salad). The weather was great and they had tables outside with a wonderful view of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, so we stopped in. We were all very satisfied with the food and the great service. It is a great stop when you're touring around the Opera House. I couldn't find a website or phone number for it, but it is easy to find. Just check out the sign in the picture - it is right next to the movie theater there, too.
Favorite Dish: I had the yummy looking meat salad in a bread bowl pictured! I really enjoyed it and the concept of the bread bowl. There were several salad choices that came in a bread bowl, so I am sure you would find one to your liking. My dad had a pasta dish that was also tasty.

The Rowers: Overlooking Mosman Bay - The Rowers Restaurant
Having taken a quick ferry from Circular Quays to Cremorne Point and the walk along the shoreline towards Mosman Bay, happy to see the Rowing Club building was open for non-members for lunch!
The Rowers Restaurant is a pleasant spot, overlooking the bobbing boats and yachts moored in this discrete little bay. The ferry does come into Mosman, but there is certainly the feel of it being predominantly local traffic with this particular route. The Rowers overlooks the ferry terminal from the 'other'side of the bay (all of 5 minutes away!).
It has a great terrace - which is the main attraction for a simple but relaxing lunch. The main room is pretty large and very white! With three walls being predominantly glass, felt that this would a more appealling place to dine in the evening.
The menu is almost exclusively fish/seafood - which is appropriate for its location. And most of it is simple - grilled and served with interesting salads or chips. AUD$22-25 for the main and more than satisfying for the end of the walk and a ferry back to Circular Quays.
Open 12 noon - 3pm for lunch, 6pm - 9.30pm for dinner 7 days a week
Favorite Dish: Good, simple grilled fish - loved the swordfish with the warm eggplant and tomato salsa salad.
Yacht Club: Tinkling of masts (Rushcutters Bay) - 'The Yacht C
With the exception of a kiosk in the middle of the park, the Yacht Club is the only place on the bay to find food and drink. And what a place!
Built out on the jetty with the backdrop of the yachts belonging to the members (and you can enter make-believe if you so wish in pretending that the biggest yacht behind you is yours!), the open patio is the perfect place for a glass of wine and a plate of calamari!
As with all Yacht Clubs in Australia, a day membership is free as long as you live more than 5 miles from the club!! Just remember to carry some proof with you....

Wolfies: Stunning harbour location
Wolfies is in one of the best locations in Sydney, harbour, bridge & Opera House all within a few metres.
Excellent food with plenty of options. They offer a lunchtime special of two courses from the three course menu for $33. Choose from pasta, risotto,fish of the day, chicken, BBQ ribs, pie, kangaroo loin, steak for the main course. Then choose either to start with salad, grilled calamari, pasta, bruschetta or indulge in a dessert of gelato, pavlova, chocolate truffle or vanilla bean creme brulee.
Favorite Dish: Geina said her caesar salad was the 'best ever' and she followed it with BBQ ribs, which was a huge slab with very tasty BBQ sauce. I had the excellent and very fresh grilled fish and followed that with vanilla bean creme brulee.
Sydney Rowing Club - Watergrill Bistro: Food with a view
The ambiance is why you go there initially. Sublime 180 degree views of the upper part of Sydney Harbour make this a place to visit even if you don't eat here. There are actually two restaurants here, the up market Dedes and the Watergrill.
Favorite Dish: I ate the sole and my partner the perch. The sole was cooked beautifully, as was the perch . The main dishes were a little light on in the vegetable department but we also ordered a side of Kumara chips that we also enjoyed.

Concession Stand: Manley Ferry
Not sure if this can be counted as a restaurant, but...
Favorite Dish: We were hungry so my granddaughter got a sandwich and I got a donut from the concession stand
