The Rocks and Circular Quay Restaurants: A taste of Paris in Sydney
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Reminiscent of a Paris Patisserie with all the delicious items to boot. There is a large assortment of cakes, pies, tarts, quiches, breads, custards and beverages. The cakes are so beautifully decorated it seems a shame to eat them; they look like a work of art. The staff is friendly and the service is quick. Pick your dessert out and have a seat at one of the tables in their courtyard. If you want a beverage it is brought to you by a waiter.

We visited a couple of times. I always had the creme brulee. It was hard not to be tempted by the other items but creme brulee is my all time favorite dessert. It was so delicous and creamy. Chris had an almond filled meringue the first time we went and then a raspberry mousse cake twice after. I can't wait to visit again and have more!

Located in the Rocks of course....the name gives it away. Lots of tables and a relaxed atmosphere. The service was excellent and quick. The variety of pancakes was amazing. I never knew there could be so many tasty flavor combinations.

We visited here twice. The first time I had The Cinnamon Apple Struessel Pancakes. It was topped with cinnamon sugar, apples, raisins, vanilla ice cream and a heavy cream sauce. They were so delicious; I ate the whole thing! Chris had the Strawberry Patch. It was loaded with strawberries and strawberry sauce. It was also topped with vanilla ice cream and the heavy cream sauce. Needless to say he cleaned his plate as well. The second time it was for my Birthday breakfast. This time I had a regular stack of pancakes that were topped with powdered sugar, vanilla ice cream and maple syrup. They were so yummy! I had a hot chocolate that was heavnly with a delicious marshmellow. Chris had the Bananarama; grilled bananas, vanilla ice cream, cream sauce and butterscotch syrup. Another delicious breakfast that we both happily finished. If you ever go to Sydney this place is not to be missed!

In the historic Rocks district we found this little restaurant. Boulders On The Rocks had a great name in the area and therefore we entered this special dining experience. This neat little restaurant is located in a small Victorian hotel, The Russell. The interior of this heritage-listed building has been beautifully restored and offers diners an interesting contrast to the Modern Australian cuisine on offer.

The compact menu offers seasonally available produce. The menu has a native Australian,Asian and Mediterranean accent.

The Rocks and Circular Quay Restaurants: BBQ some Aussie meat
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Have a cold beer. Choose your meat. BBQ it to perfection. Venture behind this historic pub and you'll find a courtyard strung with tables, benches, and large barbecues. Choose your own steak, lemon sole, trout, chicken, or pork, and throw it on the "barbie." It's fun, it's filling, and you might even make some new friends while your meal's sizzling. All the Steaks are currently AUD$27.50 each There is a smorgasboard of pasta and salad which you can eat as much as you like included in the price. If there are a few people drinking, it can be a good idea to buy the beer in a jug and share. From memory a jug of VB is about AUD$15

The Rocks and Circular Quay Restaurants: For a good lunch..or a snack...
  • Tip Rating:

  • For a good lunch..or a snack at any time (open 24 hours), you can't go wrong with City Extra located right smack in the middle of Circular Quay. But be warned. The portions are humongous--enough for ten people. Enjoy!!

Considered by many the best Italian restaurant in Sydney, Aqua Luna doesn't dissapoint....located on the second floor, facing Circular Quay, the views of the Harbour Bridge and the beautiful downtown city is breathtaking at night. The food is very, very good.....the food selections are simple but yet elegantly presented......the wine list is heavy on Australian wines (hey remeber you are in Sydney) but a nice selections of Italian wines are also avaiable. Service was pleasant and the setting is really romantic. Recommend it to anyone !!!!!

the oven roasted quail with thin sliced onions and potatoe slices....excellent....and vanilla cream pie for dessert !!! WOW !!!!!

The Rocks and Circular Quay Restaurants: Latte with a View - Various
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Inevitably, with the Harbour Bridge and Opera House the icons of Sydney, there will be plenty of cafes with a view! For a coffee and sandwich stop, Circular Quays is the best place possible, although there are more cafes looking across the water at the Bridge than the Opera House. These places are mostly better for coffee and sandwiches - they aren't always the best for food, and once you start getting into three course meals, you'll find you have to pay through the nose for them. But for a quick stop, the view is hard to beat!

The Rocks and Circular Quay Restaurants: There's a little take-away...
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • There's a little take-away place in The Rocks about a block off the main street. It is in a pedestrian area with a few small shops. They have the best gyros and souvlaki in town. Service is very quick, even though I had never been there when there wasn't a line of people. They have a few tables set up, but they are often full if you go at popular meal times. However, there are lots of benches around. It's worth eating there on the cobbled street - great people watching area, and if you look down the street in one direction, you can see one of the pilons of the Harbour Bridge.

The Gyros! They are made fresh and piled full of vegies. The sauce is GREAT.
