Hiking / Walking: Manly Scenic Walkway
  • Tip Rating:
  • The 10km walkway is a great choice to see different views of Sydney Harbour. It starts at Manly Wharf where you can pick up a detailed map of the walk at the tourist information centre.
    The walkway passes through native bushland and you can see Aboriginal engravings a long the way. I also saw an Echidna close to the end of the walkway at Spit Bridge.

    Walking shoes. Don't forget to take some water & food.

    Hiking / Walking: Nice walk between Bondi and Coogee
  • Tip Rating:
  • There's a paved walkway from Bondi to Coogee which follows the coastline and offers great ocean views. The walk starts at the South end of Bondi and takes you through the suburbs of Tamarama, Bronte and Clovelly Bay. It takes about 2,5 hrs if you walking slowly.

    The Sydney Harbour Bridge is (with the Sydney opera House) one of Sydney's and Australia's most famous landmark. Completed in 1932, the construction of the bridge was and econimic feat as well as an engeneering triumph. The total lengt of the bridge is 1149 meters including the approach spans. It was not a cheap bridge to built. The total costs were 13.5 million Australian dollars and besides that the annual maintenance costs are 5 million Australian dollars.

    We recommend to visit the Pylon Lookout. First of all the view of the Lookout over the Sydney skyline is simply amazing! Besides that there is inside the Lookout a fascinating display how this bridge was built. Entry to the Pylon is from the pedestrain walkway from The Rocks.

    The Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority publishes a wonderful booklet called The Rocks Self-Guided Walking Tour, which pinpoint 31 places of historical interest as part of a local heritage walk. You can buy the booklet at The Sydney Visitor Centre for $1.00. Along the way, walkers encounter a maze of narrow streets, laneways and interconnected sandstone cottages and terraces filled with shops, stalls, cafes and restaurants. The real enjoyment lies in simply walking around the streets and soaking up the atmosphere.

    This tour will take you along:
    * Sailor's home;
    * Coroners Court;
    * Mercantile Hotel;
    * Orient Hotel;
    * Et cetera.

    See the packing list.

    Hiking / Walking: Blue Mountains
    Seriously, there are so many trails around the Blue Mountains that are of different levels of difficulty, but they are truly invigorating. And the scenery is great!

    Wear good shoes, as some of the paths are of poor quality
