    Best surf spots in sydney

by Ventrilloquist Written Aug 17, 2014

Avalon beach (north of sydney) 10/10
    Newport beach 10/10
    Narrabeen 9/10
    South Curl Curl 8/10
Bus L90 from the centre of sydney city north to these location.
Avalon beach area has currently and in the past has produced more world champs than anywhere in Australia. Feel free to correct me if im wrong. Kelly Slater owns an apartment at south Avalon for the very good reason he loves surfing at ''Little Avalon''!! Find LA off the rocks at south Avalon.
For those looking for big waves try Foresters beach about 1.5 hours drive north of sydney, you will love this beach too.

    Surfin` in Sydney.

    by Steve-H Updated Nov 23, 2006

It`s Australia so the thing to do is hit the beach and go surfing. There are plenty of places to go too.
During a reception in Perth our friends Jen and Michael tossed us the keys to their apartment in Manly and told us to have fun `there`s a surf board in the kitchen, enjoy yourselves` well we went to the beach but we didn`t surf, we had a good look around the shops though. Thanks guys!

    Surfing in Sydney

Sydney has great beaches along the north & east coast of Sydney (South too, but its generally further to travel & are not as renknown).

Some of the most famous surfing beaches are Narrabeen, Dee Why & Manly in the North. Maroubra, Coogee & Bondi in the East. Amongst many others. So if you like surfing & cities, you'll enjoy yourself in Sydney.

If you end up at Narrabeen, watch out for territorial surfers...

    Equipment: surfboard of course

Surf on, dude ... on Dee Why!

The suburb Dee Why is North of the center of Sydney. The beach of Dee Why is maybe not the most famous one, but it's the beach where Jeroen learned how to surf on a regular board and a bodyboard.

It's just a small and nice sandy beach where all facilities for food and drinks are available.

Equipment: At the time we were surfing (April / May), do put on a wet suite!

I am not a surfer, so I can't describe the feeling. But it is also good fun to watch. Like here on Bronte Beach!
