With all the beaches and fantastic coat; no wonder surfie is a popular activity in Sydney. The surf can really pound in some areas and the surfers navigate with skill that it amazing. Surf boards are available for rent at most beaches along with surf lessons.

Equipment: Surf Board and some tasty waves....

    Manly beach

It`s Australia so the thing to do is hit the beach and go surfing. There are plenty of places to go too.
During a reception in Perth our friends Jen and Michael tossed us the keys to their apartment in Manly and told us to have fun `there`s a surf board in the kitchen, enjoy yourselves` well we went to the beach but we didn`t surf, we had a good look around the shops though. Thanks guys!

    Surfing in Sydney

    Manly Beach surfer

Sydney has great beaches along the north & east coast of Sydney (South too, but its generally further to travel & are not as renknown).

Some of the most famous surfing beaches are Narrabeen, Dee Why & Manly in the North. Maroubra, Coogee & Bondi in the East. Amongst many others. So if you like surfing & cities, you'll enjoy yourself in Sydney.

If you end up at Narrabeen, watch out for territorial surfers...

    Equipment: surfboard of course

Jeroen trying to surf on a bodyboard.

The suburb Dee Why is North of the center of Sydney. The beach of Dee Why is maybe not the most famous one, but it's the beach where Jeroen learned how to surf on a regular board and a bodyboard.

It's just a small and nice sandy beach where all facilities for food and drinks are available.

Equipment: At the time we were surfing (April / May), do put on a wet suite!

I am not a surfer, so I can't describe the feeling. But it is also good fun to watch. Like here on Bronte Beach!
