Airways / Airports: Qantas Airways
  • Tip Rating:
  • Qantas Airways is Australia's home airline. It offers flights to and from most places. It also has a Frequent Flyer Program. I collected enough frequent flyer points for 2 adults to Fiji from Sydney. Awesome experience.

  • We flew United Airlines directly from the US. We made our connection at LAX for the long 13+ hour flight to Sydney.

Airways / Airports: From Singapore to Sydney (direct flight)
  • Tip Rating:
  • This is one busy sector. A number of airlines fly this route. From Singapore, Singapore Airlines, Qantas, Gulf Air & British Airways all fly to Sydney directly. It is a 7 hours journey. A number of airlines also fly to Sydney but with a transit stop. Such airlines include Australian Airlines (Denpasar, Bali), Garuda Indonesia (Denpasar, Bali), Royal Brunei Airways (Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei) and Malaysian Airlines (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia).

    Airways / Airports: Virgin Blue
  • Tip Rating:
  • To get to Sydney I flew with Virgin Blue airlines. They have very cheap and competitive flights. If you want anything to eat or drink on the flight you have to pay for it (and headphones if you want to listen to music - good music channels too, plus a great comedy station), but the prices are reasonable. The best thing about flying with Virgin Blue was the staff, they were fun and friendly... especially when we were told where to go to get our luggage "... and for those of you not listening, you can pick yours up in Bangkok in 3 weeks".

  • Tip Rating:
  • Get a flight to Sydney as it might be just a bit too far to swim. traffic in Sydney can get pretty bad. Unfortunately there isnt a subway system but there are low level trains which are quite good for getting around. Buses are quite frequent and Sydney bus drivers are real friendly. Get a weekly travelcard for around $20 which will get you around the whole central Sydney on buses, trains and ferries.

  • Tip Rating:
  • WHIT THE PLANE....Sydney, with a population of almost 4 million, and covering almost 1120 square kilometres (700 square miles), is a remarkably easy city to move around in. An excellent train, bus and ferry service covers all points of the greater metropolitan area. Most Sydney tourist attractions are either within the central business district, close to the CBD, or at points around the harbour.

  • Fly the Aussie airlines: Quantas and Ansett. They are top-rated in the world. The Sydney CityRail, the buses, and the ferries are clean and efficient. There are also taxis everywhere.
