 | | | | Beaches: AVALON Beach - One of Sydney's "Northern Beaches" | Tip Rating: | | | | |
I'm adding this beach first, because it is the very first Aussie beach I visited, on my first morning in Sydney, thus it holds a warm spot in my heart. This is a typical "Northern Beach" of Sydney, it has the beautiful golden brown sand, the safe ocean swimming pool at the south end, and Surf Lifesavers Club. This is a good beach for walking along, surfing, sunbathing, swimming or people watching. They have flags up where it is safe to swim between. In the early 1990's, this beach was almost chosen as the filming location for BayWatch. The local residents were up in arms (my friends live near here and told me all about it!) abut having Hollywood move into their quaint town/village. Thankfully, Baywatch ultimately moved to Hawaii instead. This beach is a great local hangout, not too many tourists. It's just a short walk across the street to all the shops (supermarket, post office, surf shops, fruit and veg markets, etc). Located approx one hour north of Sydney, you can enjoy a beautiful & scenic coastal drive to get here. Leave a Comment Address: Approx a one hour drive north of SydneyDirections: Easily accessible by car or bus. The L90 bus, stops right next to the beach car park. Couldn't be any easier!! | | | | Skyline of Sydney: Sydney By Sky---tour | Tip Rating: | | | | |
I think one of the first things you should do when you go to Sydney is take a trip to the top... the Sydney tower. Sarah and I had done quite a bit of walking throughout the city before we ventured up to the top, and I personally would have gained alot of assistance by seeing how the city was laid out had we gone here first. As a person who likes to get the most out of his time, the Skytower was really fun, because you could see where the Opera House and Harbour Bridge were in relation to the Rocks, Circular Quay, Darling Harbour and even where the Olympic Park was. There was also a wonderful view of Hyde Park, the Royal Botanical Garden, Mrs. Macquarie's Chair and the rest of downtown Sydney! If you are in downtown, make sure you go! Also, one thing we missed out on because of timing was the Oztrek motion adventure. Check your times and make sure you go before you go to the top, or plan to come back down in time. We missed it because we did not plan for it properly! Leave a Comment Phone: (+61 2) 9223 1341Website: http://www.sydneyskytour.com.au/
