Manly is Sydney's second most famous beach. Bondi is much better known but is nowhere as beautiful as Manly. Manly can get very good surf as will see via the weblink below. Big surf is sometimes found breaking on the "bombora" about a mile off shore. There is a point break, one of only a couple in Sydney, at Fairy Bower. Surf schools are run out of the North Steyne Surf Club in the middle of the beach. Manly is about a half hours ferry trip away from Sydney Harbour and is definitely worth going to. The main thoroughfare from the Ferry station to the beach is a bit touristy but just keep on going until you get to the tree lined beach. The beach is a long arc and there are plenty of restaurants and cafes to choose from. Leave a Comment |
Manly is completely different than downtown Sydney. When you'e on the main beach you look out on the open sea and don't have the slightest impression that you're so close to a metropole. The boulevard along the beach is a great spot for a stroll, a run or some practice with your inline skates. The beach itself is full of surfers trying to show off their best tricks on the waves. All in all a good place to go, especially if you wanna get away from the city. Leave a Comment Directions: Go to ferry terminal 3 in Circular Quay and take the ferry to Manly |
Manly is located just above the North Head on the northern mouth of the harbour on the Sydney Map. The main road (North Steyene Road and the South Steyene road ) running along the beach is a busy street, lined with shops, cafes, pubs, and the more popular Fish and Chips shop. The south Side of the beach is recognized by a single row of very tall Norfolk Pine trees lined along the beach and gives a beautiful appearance to the beach. How to reach Take a ferry from Circular Quay to Manly wharf (it is available every 30 mts). From the ferry station, just walk along Wentworth street and you will be on this beach. It will take around 10 mts. Leave a Comment |
Manly is the best accessible of the northern beaches - and probably the most popular as well. You can easily reach it by ferry from Circurlar Quay or catch a bus. For more information see the Manly main page! :o) |
Manly offers great views of the bay & ocean. It is filled with shops & restaurants & is easy to reach by ferry. It is one of the busier beach areas & has much to offer. Leave a Comment Address: Manly,Directions: take the ferry from Circular Quay in Sydney |
Maroubra Beach --------------------- My home beach, and obviously, one of my favourites. It isn't crowded like the others and you can always find a spot to lay your towel on the sand. It's a farely large beach with great surf. if you don't want waves, a visit to Mahon Pool (on the northern side about 200 metres past the beach along the cliff-face) is really nice. Thers is also a nice little cafe near Mahon Pool. It doesn't have the lively scene of Bondi or Coogee, but it's a nice beach without dealing with the crowds. Type = Surf. Salt-water bathing pools available. Bars, cafes. There is also a rifle range located south of the beach for anyone wanting to have some practice. It's located on a peninsula... prized location these days! Getting There = From Bondi Junction Railway station or Coogee Beach, get the 353 bus. Alternatively, you may walk along the coastal walk via Tamarama, Bronte, Clovelly and Coogee beaches. From the city centre, either get the 377 or 396 bus.
