    An hour west of Sydney

The blue mountains are an escape from the busy city. Not only is it a more relaxed pace but the temp is usually 10 degrees cooler for those of you who need to escape the heat in summer.

The Blue Mountains are very close to Sydney and well worth a two day trip (at least!). The trip to Katoomba, the 'capital' of the BM takes two hours from Sydney Central and sets you back $ 11.

Hike to the bottom . . . . . . and hope the train is working for the return trip up. If not, it's only 900 steps straight up!

Day trip to the Blue Mountains National Park.
Eucalyptus trees give off an oil into the air which combined with the light gives the lush green mountains a blue hue.

Visiting the Blue Mountain. The weather is lovely up there and it would be nice to do a light trek following the trails on the mountain.
    Plenty of fresh air!

I chose the Australian Pacific Touring and, in my opinion, found APT to be an excellent tour operator.

Called the Blue Mountains due its bluish tinge seen when the sun shines through the abundant eculaptyus vapor given off by the leaves.

The Blue Mountains, about 1.5 hours drive west of Sydney. Lots of bushwalks and scenic sites. This picture was taken near a place called 'Govetts Leap' - a nice 20 minutes track down hills.
