Just think what the guy must have been smoking when he first spun the legend of the Three Sisters. Or maybe it really happened. That'd be cool too.

Actually took the Frontier Safari tour of the Blue Mountains in a 4WD and it was a fun experience. There were only 6 of us...and he was able to take us off the beaten paths and we enjoyed boomerang throwing and cheeky aussie things. It would be an easy self drive, and if you have time...this is well worth the time to visit.

Easy access by train, about a 1.5 hour journey from Central Station in the Sydney CBD, then get the tourist tram or bus to the three sisters, very touristy but the national park (three sisters) walk is worth it.

Blue Mountains: Hiking up and down the sides of waterfalls
I had the chance to stay in a beautiful B&B called Whispering Pines which is located just at the edge of the Wentworth Falls valley. There were several hiking trails into the valley, they were well marked and easy to follow. I did the hike down the National Pass and up the Valley of the Water by myself and took about 4hours to do, at the end which I rewarded myself with afternoon tea with scones at a little cafe at the end of the trail..sorry, can't remember the name.

If you like peace and quiet and communing with nature, the best time to go is off season..I was there in February and it was wonderful.

I really enjoyed bushwalking in the Blue Mountains! 'Bushwalking' - that's australian for what I'd commonly call 'hiking'... or 'trekking'.

The picture here shows the 'three sisters' of the Blue Mountains.
