The Central Business District or CBD is a pretty big place in Sydney. You could also call this the city centre. In the north it borders Circular Quay, on the west the Bradly Highway and Sussex Street all the way to the Sydnety Central Railway Station and in the east Hyde Park and the Botanic Gardens. This is roughly taken of course. It's a great place to walk and there is so much to see and do, you'll never get bored. There are many restaurants, zillions of shops, parks, fountains, museums, the AMP tower and of course all the other sights.
The area is very busy on business days at the typical hours around 9am, lunch time and 5pm. In the weekend it is almost deserted unless you walk in the shopping streets. CBD is a great place for cheap food, because you'll find food courts everywhere selling Asian, Italian, American and other food. At the end of the afternoon you can get discounts of 50%!!
If you want to see some nights shots of the CBD take a look at my Sydney CBD by night travelogue.
Step 9: Walk through the CBD
I then walk back towards the city , through the central business district towards the Botanical gardens again.
The CBD is about as busy as any other in the world and also provides for some great shopping.
Ten Pin Bowling in CBD
A brand new ten pin bowling facility has just opened in Darling Harbour.
It's called Kingpin.
A great place to go before hitting the clubs.
The emphasis is really about comfort and style.
There are lots of bars and big comfy leather loungues.
the central business district (CBD) is filled with things to do and see. The city's underground railway makes it easy to get around, with shopping, restaurants, cafe's, lots of attractions and sightseeing.
Expensive - Bring Credit Card
Sydney is expensive. Breakfast, for example, was 35 Australian Dollars in the Swissotel. Later, we learned that the minimum wage is 18 dollars per hour, a reflection of the expenses associated with importing goods over long distances. That's the bad news for the tourist. The good news - photographers there are 'cityscapes' galore just itching to be shot. Bring zoom lens and leave the tripod at home.
