Darling Harbour has become home to some of Sydney's premier attractions following a complete redesign and overhaul in the 1980s. This place was purpose built for visitors to have their days out and also a place to grab a bite to eat. There are wide promenades & large swards of green where people can relax, and there are the occasional street performances as well as organised concerts & other activities. For the kids, there are always the carnival rides at the eastern end. On top of these, many entertainment & shopping facilities on the site makes Darling Harbour attractive.

Here you will find the Australia's largest cinema screen (8 storeys high) @ Imax Theatre. Other attractions includes Sydney Aquarium (on the north), Sydney Entertainment Centre (southeastern edge), Chinese Garden (south side), Powerhouse Museum (on the west)...

The Powerhouse Museum, offers a look into its current exhibitions ranging from fashion to cutting edge technology, is one of the most popular destination. http://www.phm.gov.au

Darling Harbour is equally popular with Sidneysiders and tourists. There are huge shopping arcades, monorail connections, Imax theatre, Cafes, museums, casino an aquarium, modern chain hotels. This is a wharf area and the skyline looks very urban. The Sydney Harbour is very stylish and the development is visible everywhere.
During holiday seasons, there are numerous festivals and events for children and adults alike.
A must for all tourists. The evening time is the best time to visit.

Darling Harbour is one of Sydney's most popular recreation spots not only with locals but also tourists. This is a great place for shopping, dining and entertaining. There are many attractions nearby e.g iMax Theatre, Sydney Aquarium and a convention center

Darling Harbour: The most romantic place in Sydney
Darling Harbour is, in my opinion, the perfect place to walk with your loved one...friendly and nice atmosphere, nice little restaurants, lovely boats parked in the wonderful bay.
At night you can enjoy one of the beautyful bars or discos around the Darling Harbour.

Except for the overpriced and not very good food, I enjoyed Darling Harbor. There were street acts performing and large cranes and parrots flying overhead and a bustling crowd when we were there over Christmas holiday.

I was in Sydney in September 2003. Darling Harbour is a very soothing place. You can sit on the banks for hours.
I would suggest taking a water taxi ride from the Convention Centre to the Opera House. If you want to see Sydney quickly and get the best video shots....this is the ride for you. It costs $10 (one way). Be sure to ask for a return ticket or you will have to buy one from Circular Quay.
Also dont miss the IMAX theatre at Darling Harbour and the Starbucks next to it serves amazing brownies.
