Darling Harbour by Sweetberry1 The Ferry trip to Darling Harbour was a great experience.. This is where you can really let loose with the camera.. The scenery is fantastic along the way, and you get to go under the Coathanger..(Bridge). You also see a lot more of the city, than you otherwise would. Leave a Comment

City Scape from Darling Harbour. by weewatty On my second visit to Sydney we stayed in a serviced apartment a stones throw from Darling Harbour, in the Piermont area. Always plenty of buzz at Darling Harbour with its attractions including the IMAX cinema, huge exhibition centre, Powerhouse Museum, Sydney Acquarium, Maritime Museum, shops and loads of bars and resturants. It is served by the monorail which is a handy way of getting to it from the main shopping area of Sydney, Pitt Street. Having said that it ain't that much of a walk. One of my favourite eating places in Sydney is to be found in Darling Harbour, the Blackbird, scrumtious food at incredibly reasonable prices. It is located in Cockle Bay Wharf Plenty on offer for kids here, they will love the IMAX cinema. A handy thing to know is that the Piermont Bridge Hotel which sits just off Darling Harbour is open 24 hours a day!!! Just incase you fancy a cold one after losing all your money in the huge nearby casino!!! Leave a Comment

Entrance to Chinese Garden by martin_nl Although I haven't been inside the gardens, I sure want to recommend a visit to it. The entrance to the gardens looks amazing already. Inside you can find peace and quiet and a big chinese temple. The gardens are also called the gardens of friendship, and was a gift from the sister city of Sydney, Guangdong. When I get back to Sydnet at the end of my year in Australia, I will visit it, and hopefully can tell you more about my experiences. by dracko Those British settlers sure do love their sheep! They're everywhere! Even one of the latest areas of Sydney to go through a Renaissance of sorts. Darling Harbour used to be a working docks area, with the usual drabness that goes with it. The city's elders, however, eventually realized the area's potential and applied a very startling, and probably expensive, facelift. The area was cleaned up, rebuilt, and made into one of the prettier parts of Sydney, complete with a new mall, endless cafes and shops, a new convention center, aquarium, IMAX theater, museums, gardens, a public marina, endless fountains, and some very beautiful landscaping. The redevelopment of Darling Harbour has provided a new central focus point to Sydney. Highly saught-after residential blocks, luxury hotels, swish restaurants, chic bars, cool cafes as well as museums/galleries/ the aquarium, harbour cruises, ferry stops, live music throughout the year, IMAX screen and the Chinese Friendship Garden make this a hive of activity 365 days of the year. Plus the old swing bridge that opens once a day. Leave a Comment

by Dreks This is a complete great place to spend time with for at least one whole day. You can have your leisurely walk on its vast area, spend a quite moment at the Chinese Garden nearby, go shopping, dine&wine at ample bars and restaurants, visit specialized places like the Sydney Aquarium, IMAX Theater, Sydney's Convention and Exhibition centers, or simply sit in the park (especially the ones fronting the bay) and watch beautiful people around! I was lucky one night to be able to watch in amazement the International Boat Show showcasing only the best of man's best toy in the sea - Yachts! Leave a Comment

Darling Harbour by kooka3 Darling Harbour is fun. It was totally rebuilt about 15 years ago. It's very upscale and an interesting place to see, but I wouldn't make it a priority. If you enjoy shopping or are looking for a beautiful place for dinner, go - but expect to pay for it! There's also an IMAX theatre, a museum, and some other things to do, but again, they're pricy and cater to fairly specific tastes. Do it if you're into that stuff, but there are a lot more to do in Sydney that are specifically Aussie that you can't get other places -- Darling Harbour isn't one of them. Leave a Comment Address: West of the Harbour BridgeDirections: There are buses that go there, the train goes right through (take the circular downtown loop), or you can walk from the CBD. It'll take you about 10 minutes, and it's well marked.Website: www.harbourside.com.au
