There are excellent walks all around the Kangaroo Valley campsite. The scenery is spectacular... unfortunately my pics for those are not with me.

But definitely recommend walking through the national park and exploring the nooks and corners on your own.

Parks / National Parks / Gardens: The Greenery with the city
There are so many parts of Sydney where grass and parks have been spared by the construction workers and these make the city what it is.

One a hot summers day there the Botanical Gardens is a great place to spend the day. Theres plenty to look at for all you greenfingers but if not there is so much room just to collapse of the grass, relax or even play football, or soccer to you who don't know the real name.

whether its the Botanical Gardens, Hyde Park or one of the many other areas set a side you are sure of a relaxing time. Up by the university there is even a swimming pool for when youve had enough sitting around in the sun and need a cool down.

There is a "hop on hop off" trackless train you can ride to tour the Gardens, or you can just take a walk through them. Open daily at 6.30am, and closes at sunset. Entry is free. While visiting the Botanic Gardens, you should visit the pyramid shaped Tropical Centre, which houses tropical ecosystems in miniature. The Tropical Centre is open daily 10am to 5pm October to March, and 10am to 4pm April to September.

There is a small train which takes you on a tour of the gardens or you can just take a wander around. Look up into the trees and you should see hundreds of fruit bats.

Parks / National Parks / Gardens: Sydney Botannical Gardens
These gardens stretch from the Opera house around Farm Cove and up into the city. They are lovely to walk around, giving lovely views across to the Opera house and the Harbour Bridge and towards the city. There are also plenty of things to see in the Gardens, with Parrots, Cockatoos, Fruit Bats, Kookaburras and Great White Ibis. At lunchtime you can chill out while workers spend their lunchbreak jogging around the track. We also saw 2 weddings in the grounds.

These relatively large gardens containing many beautiful plants and flowers, really gives Sydney an environmentally friendly image because of its central location. A popular place to view and take photos of the Opera House and Bridge in one shot is at Mrs Macquaries Point. However, if you want to get up close and see what the Opera House is really like, you will have to walk back around Farm Cove.

This fellow was basking in the sun, i almost walked right past him. A typical Australian sized lizzard i am told.
Picture 2 was taken in the cactus garden.

This is a beautiful park to walk in and see plant species from all over the world, along with plenty of animals and a wide variety of birds. This is a great place for a quiet walk or a jog, and is popular for picnics. There are also a couple of restaurants.

You can get a free guided walk at 10:30 AM daily, starting at the visitors centre, or take a self-guided walk with a map.

You can get here by walking east from the Opera House.

This spot has some of the best views of Sydney! To the west you can see the Opera House and Harbour Bridge, and to the east you can see the Naval Yard at Woolloomooloo.

Elizabeth Macquarie, the wife of the Governor in the early 1800's, would stop here and rest while she walked along the harbour to take in the beautiful views.

This was one of my favourite places (I like nature)

The Botanic Gardens- established in 1816.

You can take a free guided walk around the Royal Botanic Gardens. You will see the most beautiful parrots flying freely around.

The tours starts at 10:30 (except public holidays) departing from the visitor Information area near the gardens shop

The Botanic Gardens are open from 07:00 to sunset.

A free detailed map of these walks is available from the Sydney Visitor Centre, 106 George Street, The Rocks (Open daily 09:00-18:00)
