Parks / National Parks / Gardens: Sydney guided nature tour - best tour ever
Understand Down Under runs a one day tour down the Royal National Park, South Coast (1 hour south of Sydney). The tour starts early in the morning with a short scenic train ride south from Sydney Central Station. After what seems a very short train ride! the walk begins through open bushland. Andy stops here and there to point out a piece of Australian wildlife or teach us about the aboriginals that once lived in this area - the Dharawal people. We descend down into a river valley and break for some snacks Andy has prepared. When walking resumes we ascend from the valley eastwards towards the coast. The climb is well worth it. At the ridge top the group overlooks a beautiful coastline below. The walk then descends through dry heathland to the beach we could see from the cliffs - here we break for swimming, lunch and learn boomerang throwing!! After lunch we leave the beach and ascend, this time through tropical rainforest. We follow the coast, with intermittent views of the sea below and the sun setting against the horizon. Breathtaking. It was so great - one of the best days I´ve spent in Australia. I learnt so much from Andy about nature and (aborignial) culture... the tour was well organized and I loved the "little magic" Andy brought up. I feel very lucky to have seen a part of Sydney not many tourists see.

Parks / National Parks / Gardens: These are the rules!!
We could do with more rules and regulations like these, in London you hardly dare look at the grass but in Sydney; Please walk on the grass We also invite you to smell the roses, hug the trees, talk to the birds and picnic on the lawns. The world needs more of this kind of thing.

Parks / National Parks / Gardens: Royal Botanic Gardens
When I landed in Sydney I had some jetlag problems like many people might have. After wandering around a while in Sydney I got tired of the busy streets. A great way to escape the city is to walk in the royal botanical gardens. There are beautiful trees,Bats, many plants..... There is also a very beautifull lookoutpoint to the opera house and the harbour bridge.
