    So I really didn't explore the hospital, but located outside the side entrance of the hospital is the staute of "Il Porcellino (a boar). I have seen this statue in Florence where it is said that by rubbing the boar you will have some sort of luck. I guess those individuals that are sick come and rub the boar hoping to heal or for a speedy recovery? I am not sure why else this boar would be here.

    I don't know much more about this hospital.

    Government House, located in the Domain and overlooking the Royal Botanic Gardens and Sydney Opera House, is the most sophisticated example of a Gothic Revival building in New South Wales. The ground floor State rooms have an outstanding collection of 19th and 20th century furnishings and decoration. The upstairs rooms have been used as the private quarters for the Governor, Queen Elizabeth and other members of the Royal family and visiting heads of State.

    Centrepoint Tower is a very popular Sydney attractions. The observation deck and the resturant is at 305 meters... and offers great views across the city.
    The Resturant offers a superb menu, but is rather on the expensive side..

    There is also a shopping complex on the ground level, and tours are available.

    Even as a local I often walk around the city marvelling at the beauty of the buildings against the blue summer sky. Obviously, even in the land of sunshine we don't always have perfect days, but when we do the whole city dazzles.

    Sadly, many of the Victorian buildings have given way in central Sydney to faceless office blocks. With the exception of the grander Municipal Buildings (Art Gallery, Library, Sydney Hospital etc) Bridge Street has one of the highest number of surviving buildings from the bygone era and the occasional 19th century building is to be found among the new.

    Sign up to the Hoyts Website using an MSN ‘passport’ account and you get a two for one movie voucher to print off and use. They are supposed to scan the barcode on the printout, but I haven’t seen it happen yet!

    As far as I can tell there is nothing to stop you from signing up multiple times either… But then far be it for me to point out two obvious loopholes to have you in 2-4-1 movie tickets for the rest of your stay in Sydney! I certainly wouldn’t condone that sort of activity…

    Hoyts one of the major cinema chains in Australia and there is a massive 18+ screen cinema on George St in the centre of town.

    If you’re keen on staying on the straight and narrow, note that Hoyts run $9.50 Tuesdays – and the Art house cinemas (including the spectacularly located Dendy on Circular Quay) run cheap Mondays (around $8).

    The normal Hoyts price is $14.50, but then I only pay $7.25 these days - I'm even considering using a 2-4-1 ticket on 'Super Tuesdays'... ;-)

  • Looking for a place in the city to relax, have a cuppa and a light meal? Stop in the cafe on the ground level of the Grace Hotel. While you're there have a look around. I have heard it said that The Grace boasts some of the finest Art Deco decor in Sydney.
    The place has quite a history as Douglas MacArthur made it his command central during WW2. Have heard that some Sydneysiders familiar with the situation dubbed it "The Disgrace".
    There is a full restaurant one level above the cafe but I haven't eaten there.

    This is one of those lovely buildings, that demand you stop and take a look. This photo didn't really capture the beauty of it.
    The blue color was stunning.

    Queen Victoria Building "the most beautiful shopping centre in the world". Known as the QVB, this is a ritzy and expensive place to shop, but an absolutely beautiful building inside and out. Houses over 200 specialty stores.
