Sydney Harbour: See it by boat at your own pace

  • Sydney harbour is amazing. Seeing it from a boat is an absolute must, especially when you are driving the boat. There is a certain view when the Opera house, harbour bridge and the city all fit in to one breathtaking shot. You can also cruise over to Watsons Bay for a drink or some fish and chips. If you are interested in fishing pop in to the Watsons bay game fishing club. Where you will see fantastic pictures of huge shark and Marlin caught off Sydney heads over the last fifty years. Also if you enjoy fishing throw a rod in and ask Vance the boat hirer about the best spots to go to, he will definately see you right. You can also anchor up on one of the beaches north side and go for a walk around Sydney Harbour National Park, where there are beaches, bushland, parks and great views.Or if you want a place where you can just chill out and take in all the views in one go, then just point the boat straight towards shark Island, anchor up and enjoy the moment. There is a map on board the boat so all these spots are easy to find. Boats can be hired from Rose bay Aquatic hire, which can be found in the local directory. The cost is about $70 for four hours, which is plenty of time to get the most out of the experience

    Sydney has the most beautiful harbor in the world, that's just the way it is :) And the best way, I would even say the only way to see the harbor is from a boat. The best boat to do it from is a sailboat, because it is quiet, it is a little bit of action (but not to much) and it is very friendly on the environment. Which brings me to the best boat on Sydney Harbor, the 75 feet Americas Cup racer Spirit! The statistics on this yacht is truly amazing but I'll let the crew tell you about it :) This harbor sightseeing cruise it the best I have ever been on. I would recommend it to everybody, even those of you who are not that interesting in sailing.

    Sydney is a city who lives in the sea...wherever you look you will find a bay or a larger harbour.
    The Sydney Harbour is just wonderful and it is worth to make a trip by ferry to see the city from a different aspect.

  • Take a bus to the north side of the bay and walk the harbour bridge back south. The harbour wiew from the north side is bound to one of the more spectacular city wiews on earth. Very very nice.

    Take a trip round the harbour on one of the many boats that leave from Circular Quay. You get really good views of the skyline. We took one of the extended trips, which I would recommend, as you see a bit more of the city, including some of the luxuary seafront accomadation.

    Take the ferry to Manly. It is very inexpensive and relaxing. You will get a wonderful view of the Sydney Harbor and surrounding areas. Manly has a beach and is a fun town to walk around in.
    The sailing ship in the picture is a replica of the HMS Bounty. It was used in the latest Mutiny on the Bounty movie.

  • Take the public ferry (cheaper) to Manly Beach for a seafood meal. Along the way you can photograph the bridge, opera house, etc. In the city see the Botanical Gdns, Museum of Contemporary Art & the Australian Museum where they show a "Busride" movie about their civil rights movement at the same time similar to the USA. If your timing is right you can catch Mardi Gras (we were not so lucky).
