Sydney Harbour: It's truly a 'must' for all Sydney visitors.
  • Tip Rating:
  • The harbour is what make Sydney Sydney. It's the center of everything you should know about Sydney. Nearby attractions inlude the Harbour Bridge, the Rocks, the Opera House, Circular Quay, Royal Botanic Garden. It's billed as one of the world's most beautiful harbour, so why miss it?!

Sydney Harbour: When the sun sets
  • Tip Rating:
  • The lap-lap of the water, a loud clanging bouncing across the ripples, the calming throb of the ferry's diesel engine as it pushes onwards before the shuddering rattle as it reverses into position at the wharf. These are all noises you can hear taking night photos in secluded parts of the harbour. This is taken just above Taronga Park Ferry Wharf. In fact, the bright white light on the right is that ferry wharf with the CBD of Syndey in the background.

This is a great place to view Sydney Harbour, the skyline, Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge. You can either walk there from the city centre (about 25 minutes) or get a taxi or one of the Explorer buses. It is located at the northen tip of the Botanic Gardens area. Just sit back, relax and enjoy the view. Bring some drinks/food with you as there are no stores there.

Sydney Harbour has much to see. The Sydney Opera House is probably its most famous sight but the view of the harbor from Sydney Tower is amazing. Sitting on a bench next to the harbor or grabbing a bite to eat nearby can be very relaxing.

Sydney Harbour: Take a Harbor Cruise!
  • Tip Rating:
  • If you're in Sydney, I really recommend getting out on the water at some point. There are several ways to do this, whether its a lunch cruise or water taxi (you can pick up several from either Circular Quay or Darling Harbor), or even the ferry to Taronga Zoo. The view of the skyline is amazing, and they have the bluest water I've ever seen.

    Sydney Harbour: See Sydney Harbour
  • Tip Rating:
  • For any visitor to Sydney probably the first thing to do is to go down to the harbour and see the Sydney harbour bridge and the opera house. Close the the harbour is also the Royal Sydney botanical gardens too and the Art gallery. You can also take one of the ferry's across to either Manly beach or to Luna park . If you want you can book a water taxi to explore the harbour for around $25.00 AUD. There are also many very good restaurants and bars around the harbour to sit in and admire the sceanery.

Sydney Harbour: Cremorne Point Reserve/Mosman Bay
  • Tip Rating:
  • OK, so it may not be the most glamorous of the bays on offer in Sydney Harbour, but hop on the short ferry trip over to Cremorne Point, get great views back over the city and then walk along the shoreline of the inlet that is Mosman Bay. It's a pathed walk all the way, walking past many a glamourous 'Federation' style home ( as well Art Deco and more comtemporary). There's also a delightful 'botanic' garden for some of the way, a garden that is looked after by 90 year old Rose, a local resident. Walk through the pathways - also gives you access to the water's edge. A slow paced walk will take an hour or so to the ferry terminal of Mosman Bay itself - or combine the walk with lunch at The Rowers Restaurant (see tip under restaurants).

Sydney Harbour: Walk round the harbour for great photo opps
  • Tip Rating:
  • Catch a bus to the Rocks or a bus/ferry/train to Circular Quay. Explore the Rocks area or walk directly around the Quay to the Opera house. After gazing at the harbour and the Sydney Opera House walk towrad the Botanical Gardens. Follow the signs in the Gardens to Mrs. Macquarie's Chair where you can get the best photos in Sydney of the Harbour bridge and Opera house - if you get here at sunset they are even better! You can either walk back the way you came, or walk on to the Woolloomooloo pier where you can get a drink or dinner and do some people watching. Best of all - it's FREE!
