Sydney Opera House: Sydney Opera House - the icon of Australia
Sydney's Opera House is undoubtedly the icon of Australia. Its characteristic sail-shaped roof formed the logo of the Sydney Olympics in 2000. Designed by Danish architect Jern Utzon and completed in 1973, the Opera House stands at Bennelong Point overlooking the magnificent Sydney Harbour. It is host to major international performing groups and music festivals including the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. During a trip to Sydney in December 2000, my friend invited me for a concert by the Sydney Symphony Orchestra at the Opera House. The interior was huge and modern and the acoustics were superb.

Sydney Opera House: SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE TOUR
THE OPERA HOUSE MUST BE FOR MOST PEOPLE THE REAL ICON OF SYDNEY.
WHEN YOU SEE THIS STUNNING BUILDING YOU KNOW YOU HAVE ARRIVED IN THIS GREAT CITY.
SO AFTER MARVELING AT IT FROM THE OUTSIDE WHY NOT TAKE A LOOK FROM THE INSIDE WITH A TOUR OF THE BUILDING. WE DID THE FRONT OF HOUSE TOUR, A TOUR THAT LASTS ABOUT AN HOUR.THESE TOURS RUN EVERY HALF HOUR STARTING AT 9AM THROUGH TO 5PM.
PRICES ARE $20. YOU CAN ALSO DO A BACKSTAGE TOUR WHICH LASTS 2 HOURS STARTING AT 7AM AND INCLUDES BREAKFAST. THIS COSTS $140 PER PERSON. AUS DOLLERS.
WE BOUGHT OUR TICKETS AT THE BOX OFFICE AND JOINED A GROUP OF ABOUT 15 PEOPLE FOR OUR TOUR. I THINK IT IS GOOD TO SEE AROUND THIS GREAT BUILDING PLUS THE GUIDE TELLS YOU LOADS OF THINGS OF INTEREST ABOUT THE PLACE. WE GOT TO SEE 3 OF THE 5 THEATRES YOU CAN TAKE PHOTOS AT SOME POINTS BUT NOT IN THE CONCERT HALL. YOUR GUIDE WILL TELL YOU WHEN YOU CAN TAKE PICS AND WHEN YOU CANT.
OUR GUIDE REALLY ADDED TO THE ENJOYMENT OF THIS TOUR AS SHE SEEMED TO REALLY ENJOY THE PLACE AND TOOK DELIGHT IN TELLING YOU ALL ABOUT IT, THIS REALLY HELPS IF A GUIDE IS PASSIONATE ABOUT WHAT HE OR SHE IS DOING.
SO ALL IN ALL I THINK A TOUR AROUND THE OPERA HOUSE IS A REAL MUST DO WHILE YOU'RE IN SYDNEY...SEEING THE MAIN CONCERT HALL IS SOMETHING NOT TO BE MISSED.

    Sydney Opera House: Opera House
The Opera House is a must see if you are going to Sydney. It's just the thing to do and it's surprisingly easy to get there and there are so many other things in the area too.
The layout of the Opera House is not what you expect as there is a walk way that goes underneath it and one that leads to the front steps. I suggest you walk all the way around the lower level first and it takes you right around to the front where you can see over the other side of the harbor. I missed this the first time so take the time, it's worth it.
Then go up the steps and you can walk between the sails and there are some cool photo opportunities.
You can also go inside the Opera House thought the Box Office or there is a lower level that you can enter from. You can't get into any of the theaters and pretty much only go around the foyer. There is a shop in there and a rather large cafe. If you want to see the rest of the inside you can go on a tour. I went on the basic tour and it takes you to sections that are off limits and into the theaters (unless there is a production on). You can't take pictures inside any of the theaters put other than that I'd say go your hardest because you'll only be there once.
There is a backstage tour that you can also do and you get to see a whole lot more.
When you have had a good look around make sure you head down to the Opera House Shop (not the one inside the Opera House but there is one on the lower level outside) and there are a whole bunch of funky items you can buy. Worth a look.

    Sydney Opera House: Opera House
The Opera House is a unique looking building, the construction of it was completed in 1973 and it was designed by Danish architect Jørn Utzon. It is situated on Sydney Harbour, and is well known as an Australian icon. There are many performances that go on inside the Opera House including ballet, musical performances and many plays. If you would like to go to a performance I would recommend checking the website.

    Sydney Opera House: Must see!!
The Opera House of course is a must see attraction, you cannot miss it while in Sydney. Also great is to see a show, there are pretty cheap tickets, they are sold early on the day of the opera. I saw 'La Traviata', amazing!!
