 | Sydney Zoo / Aquarium/ Animal parks Reviews | Tips 121 - 130 of 179 | | Interesting..... It appeared that a lot of the animals had been rescued for the wild and that is why they were in the zoo. I heard a story on the radio in 2004 I think about the shark tank glass breaking here and the sharks and all the water spilling onto about seven patrons of the aquarium. It was interesting because they had so many native species, but I might venture to say that it was a little odd. We were there in the beginning of Australia's winter, so that may have had something to with it. Leave a Comment Address: Darling HarbourPhone: 9262 2300 |
It is perfect for visitors who are interested in Australian animals and their environment. Taronga Zoo has about 340 species and over 2600 individual animals. It is located along the waterfront, in one of the most beautiful points on Sydney Harbour overlooking Sydney Cove, the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House. It's truly the best zoo I have ever been to. You can get FREE ANIMAL PRESENTATIONS AND SHOWS like Free Flight Bird Show, Seal Show...You also get to see kangaroos and wallabies, with the opportunity to hand feed them Leave a Comment Directions: Taronga Zoo is approximately 12 minutes by ferry from Circular Quay and the CBD. (Ferries depart Circular Quay, every quarter past and quarter to the hour) and it is also accessible by bus. |
It was one of my most memorable days in my life. The Sydney Bridge Climb is a tad bit touristy--but it's definitely fun if you're going to do it with friends who are doing it the first time. Although, cameras aren't allowed--they've got official photographers there who'll take your pic. I loved sharing this experience with my European buddies as we stretched some of each others' fears of heights and what not. It was like a team-building session of some sort;) Leave a Comment Address: Cumberland St., SydneyPhone: (02)8274-7777Directions: #5 Cumberland St., The Rocks SydneyWebsite: www.bridgeclimb.com |
It's a casual park where the animals are within reach, you can pat the koala, touch a snake. Where Wallabies roam around you while you have a picnic. You don't have to go to the Australia Zoo (Steve Irwin's Park) to see a crocodile show, it's here with Eric the Crocodile. The only downside is the spider collection. I expected to be scared out of my mind but they were mostly in little containers, more like a lab than display units. Leave a Comment |
Just take a ferry from Circular Quay to Taronga Zoo and then a cable car to upper part of the zoo. It is easier to walk down back to shore. |
Koalas are found only in Australia and they survive only on eucalyptus leaves. They hardly drink water. They are very shy animals and are primarily nocturnal. Hence when we visited the park at 1000 hrs, they were mostly sleeping on the top of tree branches. The Park volunteers used to bring them one by one and allow the visitors to stand close to Koalas and get photographed. Uou are also allowed to touch the Koalas. Park officials were saying that they wake up at around 1500 hrs in the afternoon and hence that is the best time to see the Koalas. Leave a Comment |

Nice trip on the ferry which takes about 15 mins then you arrive at the zoo.. its a bit confussing but you get a map, not that it helped but still well worth the visit.. make sure you take a picture of the giraffes with the city building and opera house in the back ground, oo and of course the bridge |
Not a bad place to check out and interact with Australia's native wildlife. You can see and feed koalas, kangaroos , wallabies, emus and so on. Worth a look. Leave a Comment |
